I'm actually a Giants fan, and couldn't agree more about the Pats.

What are you? Niners? Seahawks?

Tore the 2100S down and I stand corrected I would like to see more of these (Old Homelites) in big cc of course. Thanks for the tank fuel line black puddle tip..sure nuff a blob of rubber down on the case when I opened the tank up. Replaced with Tygon yellow hobby nitro line:rock:...should out last the saw:rock:..Go J.E.T.S:rock:

Ebay XL-101 #2 is nearly a runner. Pulled the knot off the end of the rope three times this morning. Finally went to the OPE dealer a got a length of really hard braid nylon. I have been using a figure 8 knot at the handle. Got it running but would only run at WOT, not idle at all. Swapped carbs as I concluded the idle passage had an obstruction. (Yes, I R&R'ed the welch plugs for a look-see.) Got it running and ideling great but leaned the high speed too much and it died trying to cut a small log. Watiing for Orschlens to get in a carb kit.

Seller still hasn't shipped ebay 101 #3. Auction closed Friday. Maybe I got a bad apple.

I saw that on the 'bay. A real 'Whatsit'.

Fire it up and see what it does. Could be for blowing air into something.

Where does that yellow tubing come from/go to?

Ha! Insect fogger.

I will say siren the unit on the clutch side is self contained no hose fittings no pulley so it wasn't a water pump or generator but a classic 1970's or even 60's mobile field siren, and that muffler was added so you can hear the siren over the saw.

anybody know what this does ?
military xl power head + turbine ? nah
looks like it's geared up. has a lot of muffler on it, siren maybe ?

it is a xl 12 looks like it was mounted on a vehicle could have been a fire converted deuce and a half. not sure why the hose is going into the manual oiler and the throttle cable would of had to be mounted in the vehicle. Defiantly a siren. could also have been a civil defense air raid siren.

Hose looks to be in the kill switch hole on the flywheel cover. Who knows why...

Manual oiler pump is part of the rear handle/carb box casting on xl12 family saws.

My guess is also that it's a siren. Bet it's LOUD. Don't think a fan of that size could be used to start a jet engine.....unless it's a tiny one on a drone. What else do you use a portable fan of that size for......tunnel ventilation maybe?

Probably not. Ebay seems to be having trouble notifying the sellers when the buyer pays for items. I sold a saw last week and it took them three days to tell me the buyer paid. The buyer of my saw was about ready to request his money back because I hadn't shipped the saw yet.

I'd like to know as well. I've been looking for a used 750 clutch for a while. There is a 650 clutch spider on ebay that fits saws with a 5/8" crank.
Weird thing is the crank on the 750 measures almost exactly .500" Are all 750's .500"?
Would the clutch from an old 1/2" crank XL-12 fit?.

That era saw, more than one tunnel had to be checked out in the Vietnam conflict, and a lot of stuff that era disappeared while shipping, and would be up for removal from service by now.

So its a siren, insect fogger, or ventilation. Truth be told, it may work for all three.

And, the army would have a thirty page booklet with step by step instructions and pictures.

When we found a tunnel or bunker complex, I would hear the old man call for sgt. Nagel. I was the smallest in the rifle company.

C5 fuel tank cover.

The fuel tank cover on the ebay C5 has a tiny crack along the side rail and two guages in the bottome rail. Tank proper has a welded repair in bottom that looks good enough. Drilled and tapped the two stripped holes to #8-32tpi. May do all of them and use hex socket button head screws.

It's doubtfull the cover will be leak free but I will seal it up and give it a try.

Crossing my fingers.

From another thread to put it in it's proper place is the 750 clutch shoe question.

it is a three shoe clutch and one is broken as seen in the pic.
what you cant see is on the broken off piece the little hole to hold the spring is broken open.
was thinking welding,i do know a more than very good welder but would it be strong enough ?

or do i just BEG somebody to part with ONE little shoe ?? please !!

The farmer down the road has a Homelite 707. It looks to be in good condition, still has most of the paint and decals. Feels like good compression. He bought it new in the early 60's, said the last time he ran it was over 25 years ago. He said to make him and offer. What is something like this worth? I don't want to insult him, but I also don't want to pay twice what it's worth.
