To you fellows bidding on (or planning to bid on) this Super 2100...................be VERY careful. That seller has screwed a couple people here on AS. Most notably, the fellow (BroncoRN) who bought an SP-80 from him last year. It was TRASHED inside (not as advertised at all) and the seller refused to make things right. Accused the buyer of switching parts, lying, and such. The sad saga is buried in the McCulloch thread. No I'm not bidding on this saw at all. I won't bid on anything that seller lists. Sucks, as he's had some tempting stuff listed. Some guys have had good luck buying from him, while others.....

good on joey for getting it going for him.

Ian, have you ever came across a 2000 with the original non-circlip type piston? Not sure if you can tell in the pic I posted today, but there's not even a groove cut for a circlip... its just smooth. I'm wondering if there was some problem with using the Rulon plugs, 'cause they didn't seem to be on a lot of models, and only for a brief time there around the late 60s.

A few years back, I came across a box with some old Brown carb parts and it had a pile of these plugs in the bottom. Didn't know what they were until a couple days ago when I took this 2000 apart. Now I gotta remember where I put 'em :msp_rolleyes:.

Dan. I believe i have a new and used piston for the 2000. Both without
the circlip groove. The new piston is missing the pin plugs. The used one
i think still has one. I will take a look later. Do you need me to post pic's.

Also, I believe it was cbfarmall who had a 2100 with a 2000 piston in it he
purchased and it had a bad cylinder do to the wristpin sliding up and down
the cylinder. The plug was missing and the piston had no clip grooves.

I won't be bidding on it either.

Thanks for the reply Lee. I just wanted to verify whether or not these have the skirt cutout. Again, the one I removed a few days ago and pictured here earlier has the skirts cut, and just trying to determine if this was factory or not. If someone modded it, they did a pretty fair job.

Here is a pic of the new 2000, 2000E piston.
This piston uses the buttons but they are missing.
There are no grooves in the piston for the clips.
The original part # on the box is A-65752-A
It was crossed off with a marker and a hand
written # 69241 on the box. According to my
IPL's the A-65752_a is correct for the 2000
and the 69241 is suppose to be the thin ring
piston for the Super 2100.
Of all the 114cc Homelites i have had appart i
have never seen a piston with those cut outs
in the skirts. And i've had a few appart.

Hope this helps, Lee

Sure does. Thanks again Lee.

Homelite DM20 cut off saw pictures and what I've found. Its got no spark, but really bought it for the full wrap handle and to see if I could make a Super XL have a full wrap.

The handle is pretty simple. XL-12 body, no oil lines, blocked off oil fill and no plunger to oil. The oiler hole near the bar is not drilled. The tank takes one of the bolts, the other goes to the lower spike hole and right near the lower bar mount is a tapped hole. From the pictures, all I need to do is tap the lower mount hole and bolt it on, except the lower bar mount. Looks like I need to tap the oil tank. Make it an XL-12 with full wrap or try tapping the tank?

Don't remind me of that fiasco. Never got anywhere with the plugs and another piston materialized so I shelved the project.

I have a little Lombard with those plugs, rather clever design.

Sorry to have reminded you. I remember it was a mess.
I thought you had got the saw all up and running with a
new top end.

Unknown 2 3/16" Homelite (?) piston.

Picked up this piston out of a pile of Homelite parts and want to identify it. Had no packageing with it nor numbers.

attachment.php

skirt dia.---- 2.182"
wrist pin dia.--- .499"
CL wrist pin to end of skirt--- .875"
CL wrist pin to edge of crown--- .828"
overall height--- 1.750"

horizontal locator pins in line with wrist pin

Should fit some large Homie........................................but not a 2000......:bang:
