You and the rest of the world need this part. I need about 10. Once you install one, you'll find yourself removing it all the time to smack the recoil once the balls start sticking.

Oh, I know it. There's a reason those Homelite guys switched to the Fairbanks-Morse starters after awhile.

Still want one tho!

Homelite 330 throttle spring

Does anyone have a 330 that they could pop the cover off the throttle assy and snap a picture? Spring find number 19 is missing on mine and I don't understand where it would even go?

Homelite only played with the over running bearing type starter setup for a couple of years (thankfuly) before switching the rest of their large saws to the 'pawl' type. The FM type starter is OK, but not great.

The 'ball wratchet' type used before the FM starters is hit and miss (meaning you have to take off the ash tray cover as Chris said and hit the damn thing when it misses engagement). A similar starter setup (ball type) worked well for Briggs and Stratton for decades.

The pawl type starter (first used by Homelite on the XL-series saws, long after McCulloch used it on all of their saws) is the most reliable. This Homelite starter talk is gonna bring RandyMac out of the woodwork with his "homelice" and "magic fingers" talk...:ices_rofl:

The ball type starters as used in the older Homelites like the 900 and 700 series work fine. You just have to remember the balls, cage and cover have to be clean and dry or the balls will stick in the out position and then the starter will not engage.

I agree. It also helps to pull gently until the balls engage and then pull with force to start it. If you just yank away, the impact of the balls can cause indentations and wear on the ramps and aggravate the sticking problem.

Hi, I am fishing for any info regarding value of two Homelites I have. Model 17 and model EZ . The 17 was a runner and the EZ I don't recall. I am just looking for any info on value, vintage and size thanks for any replies. I also dug out a Echo 1001VL today.

If you wanna get rid of that 1001 let me know. I tried to pm you but it was not working cause I'm on my phone.

Super EZ AO

I bought this saw used around 1980 and cut a considerable amount of wood with it. After missing out on a couple project saws recently, I decided to do this one and give it a well deserved rest. Before photos are first. Always ran 16:1 - check out that cylinder, not a mark in it.

Chris B.

I couldn't help but include this photo of a NOS recoil cover I managed to score a while ago. I have not seen another one since finding this one.

This one will end up on my 900G resto.

Best of luck with finding one!!!!
