I couldn't help but include this photo of a NOS recoil cover I managed to score a while ago. I have not seen another one since finding this one.

This one will end up on my 900G resto.

Best of luck with finding one!!!!

Chris.

Isn't that a lucky score.
I haven't seen an NOS one yet.
Hard item to find even used.
I'm sure it will go to good use.

LilPossum,

Are you saying you have a Homelite 1050 bar mount bar that is .058 gauge? That would be a odd bar.

Bill

Yes sir. I thought it was a 1050 bar mount. The big roller nose that just came from up north :)

Maybe I am wrong on the mount though, but I thought it was the same as the rollo-tronic

That's 'ratchet'!

Got a new one of those, too. First and only one I've seen with the clear guard.

Chris B.

That part is called "rat-chit"

I've never been a good speller. I like Randy's spelling better anyways...:hmm3grin2orange:

Stripped down, glass beaded, repainted, new rings, seals, decals. New rear handle grips on order. Finally got it back together and will do the first run in the AM. Video will be made.

That's fantastic!

They got bought

Well no #### Bill. I meant that there was a long run where there was almost a 'glut' of the damn things on feebay. SEVERAL NOS pistons, and more than a few NOS cylinders. Many used P/C sets as well. The same items were getting relisted again and again over at least a 1-year period. Suddenly they all dried up over the period of a week or two.

Indeed, somebody must have bought all of them at the same time. It was strange to see it happen all at once. Nevermind...:sucks:

I could use one of those too. Probably also a good used or NOS cylinder as well. XP1000/1020/1050/1100/1130G. Was going to try one of the "Greek" 1050 pistons on feebay, but he's out of 'em. I'd like to get this saw together soon. It has work to do...

While we're at it................going to need a piston for a Homelite 900D soon too. I'd wager a piston for a 900D/G, 909D/G, 990D/G, or 995D/G would work. Might also need a cylinder for that saw. Hope not...

On the subject of the 1050, I bought one of the NOS cylinders off ebay a couple months ago, and I got the second to last piston from the Greek. I went back to get the last piston, just in case my other 1050 croaked, but it was gone. I've been using my good 1050 on a Granberg Alaskan mill with the 36" bar. My Dad bought this saw new somewhere between 1971 and 73, used it for 20 years comercially, and it still has enough compression to rip your fingers off when it kicks back, Joe.

*shaking my head*!!!!!!!

SO about a month ago i got an old super xl!!! cleaned it got it running sanded it did my first chainsaw paint job LOL,,,let it sit for a month!!!!during that time i read in the poulan fourm where modifyed mark posted to someone dont waste your time using normal spray paint!!! He said "I aint seen one yet that will hold up to gas"!!!!Well i thought to myself i will just let it set up for a whole month it will be ok!!!!! hahahah:hmm3grin2orange: here she is she fired up and ran I had to put the switch wire back on flipped up gas went down the side!!!!

Ladder Mill?

Here's a pic of the 1050 at work last weekend, and another pic of several of my old saws. I've posted pics of them before, but I don't think I put them in this thread, Joe.

Never seen a ladder used as a straight edge! Is this a common way to mill?

It would be cool to make you own boards...

I feel a lil sick

I bought this saw used around 1980 and cut a considerable amount of wood with it. After missing out on a couple project saws recently, I decided to do this one and give it a well deserved rest. Before photos are first. Always ran 16:1 - check out that cylinder, not a mark in it.

Putting the Super 1050 to work

Here we are bucking up a dead maple removal in the snow. This is a 1974-75 that I am the second owner of. It sure is fun to have all the torque. But my hands are numb from the vibes.

Fantastic pics! Love the falling snow along with the chips. Thanks for putting the links up instead of embedding the images. That means I can see 'em!
