Homelite super XL 60cc auto oilers provided they oil fill on front of saw. If they fill near the exhaust then they are XL12 54cc

The little homies are good for what they are if you can get past the noodles of oil lines and duck bill valves to get them to oil correctly.

Hey I ran a saw today that I bought a while back C-72. I stored several saws at a friends farm and he evidently got bored or intrigued at this model and cleaned it up and he made a gasket for the fuel tank and it started but wouldn't stay running. He brought it over and all that needed to be done was dial in the carb adjustments. I ran it buried with a 20" bar on it and that saw really surprised me compared to the C-51 that I have run. I know it is a little bigger on CCs but they must have made improvements in the porting on those as well. The c-51 I had pulled 150 on compression no idea what the c-72 is at. I always kind of turned the other way on those saws. It was a nice surprise.

Homelite 450:
This could be my intake leak. See where the boot flange is folded in by the carb mounting screws?

I have a notion to use a Stihl intake boot sleeve in there as there is no other way to hold it in proper shape. It has taken a permanent set.

New boot on the way but we want to run him now![emoji12]

I have never done this but think it could work for a temp fix until you get your boot. Cut a piece of cardboard business card thickness to the shape soak it in some oil and tighten her down. I was going to say use a thin layer of motoseal but you do not want to have to clean it off your carb and do not want in the threads.

Hello, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I received this Homelite 8800 on Wednesday morning via Fed Ex. Yes, it's the one that was listed on CL in Detroit that Gary mentioned above. I tore into the package and found that the saw had been packed extremely well, including the 36 inch bar that had been strapped to a piece of wood. The chain is newer, made by Stihl, and looks barely used. Long story short, I cleaned it up as best I could before re-assembly. It is very clean for the age and appears to have low-ish hours on it. I inspected the infamous boot for damage from use and age. The boot is soft and supple and I reinstalled it. I pulled a rookie mistake and bought a replacement boot prior to receiving the saw and of course it doesn't fit. Oh well.

It is missing the Homelite emblem on the top cylinder cover, one handle bolt, and the decal on the drive cover. It runs well and has a great lope to it. The oiler does need adjusting as I don't think it's oiling enough for the bar it's equipped with. Any thoughts on how to adjust or remedy this condition? I had nearly forgotten how fun it is to work on larger saws. Enjoy your weekends, Max.Homelite 8800 Pic 1.jpeg

Hello Homelite Wizards! A friend pointed me here to ask if anyone knows of a source for a clutch side oil seal, part number 58688-A. It's for a SXL925 I acquired today. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
