Pump (the one with "flaps") lays on carb. Metering diaphragm (the one that pushes metering lever) is opposite--metering side is carb, gasket, diaphragm, cover.

The diagram online shows gasket, then diaphragm then cover. I'm a little confused now.

It's probably flooded now. Leave spark plug out and let it dry up. Try tomorrow.

Spark plug was dry so it wasnt getting any fuel, see above post, she runs now.

Hey I'm im in process of splitting a super xl to change the pto side case. Will the pto side crankcase seperate after I remove the oil pump and the 5 perimeter bolts it's loose but I don't want to force anything. Is there some kind of crank bearing retainer on pto side?

No it will not come apart. Its attached to the crank bearing.

The oil pump housing is actually what I'm changing

Ok, maybe I'm not on the right side. The flywheel side comes off but not the clutch side

I will have to look in a bit. I have a parts saw I have half disassembled I will take a pic of. Could you post a pic of what you are trying to separate?

The old housing is loose but I don't see any other way to.take it apart without gettin the housing off

Ok, you see on the new case it has 2 screws on either side of the crank bearing? Those 2 hold the housing on the crank. I'm not sure if you can press the crank out of the bearing or not, but I took the motor apart and separated it that way.

If you take the motor apart you can remove the crank from the motor still attached to the old case. Then you can get to those 2 screws
