Just noticed the Husky on its side in the background. As if its saying, " Allright, I give up! You win!"

Nice looking saw as always and runs as good as it looks.

VERY limited experience with Homelite but the anti-vibe made my hands shake for days...it cut and oiled well though.

My McColloch lasted for years of serious un-trained ABUSE before the frame broke. It was under-powered for an 18" bar, didn't restart until it cooled off but it cut A LOT of wood...Sure as hell don't miss it though.

I sorta figured this would be a dead heat between the two makes. Both have ardent fans with their favorites and both seem to be picking up new Clan members. Just a few years ago, on this site, a vintage chainsaw would have gotten little attention, usually some turd advising the interested party to straight gas it and buy the newest whizbang rubbermaid wonder. Now we have 100s of pages devoted exclusively to North American Chainsaws. NAC fans have infiltrated Europe, our mates Down Under are depleteing local supplies of precious alloy, our relics will never die. Geardrives are now regarded as machines of brute force, not something too slow and heavy to be of any use. In a sea of plastic clones, the old monsters live on.

Well put Randy. You're also right in that it's just about a dead heat. Mac started with an early lead, but the Homelite side of the stadium is now filling up nicely!

Not all is lost with the plastics..wife says Nos.1 thru 7 are re-cyclable!

Plastic does make dandy fuel and oil caps.....my siggy sez so...

My opinion is right near the poll results up to now, about 50/50. I used more old homelites but I used a fair amount of Macs but less. Liked most of both but each had models I didn't care fore. Usually the pro or farm saws were rock solid dependable. Some of the Macs could of used a bigger fuel tank. Some of the Homelites felt a bit slower and less powerful , but not all.

The new recent stuff doesn't count with me, probably good for 1 time use and then who knows if it will work again. At least if you buy it when you need it and it doesn't work you can usually take it back for an exchange or refund. If you need it a year later and have a problem their usually junk like much or most other chinese inferior products. I don't think you can hardly find parts for them, they expect you to add more of their garbage to our mountains of trash and sadly that is what happens.

I have been fiddlin' around with a couple of the newer little Macs that people say aren't good and have them running pretty well. I'm gonna try them out this fall when I have a big tree cut down on my property. It might be good trimming saws and if they're not I have some of the old tried and true metal saws for backup. I do like the weight of the little plastic things though.

hey all my brother went to go see mom today and he told me that all she was doing was staring at the ceiling that does not sound like my mom i have a ulcer on my leg and it dont look good at all red purple skin around it someone told me it is best i stay away from the nursing home due to mercer etc. cause if someone has it in there it can get attached to my open sore on my leg

Personally im not worried about myself comes a time in life we need to make sacrifices and my mom needs me shes all i have left in this world when she goes home to be with my dad and the lord then who will i have to go to for support it was mom that supported me during dad passing on we supported each other

im sorry to post this in here but hope someone can be there for me if i need a shoulder to cry on etc.

Of coarse homies are better. :spam:

In my limited travels the mac stuff is more odd ball. It seems harder to find parts for them and they seemed do do things uniquely. That and I actually have a homie.
