I've got a couple of old Homelites I may have to give away, postage would be huge! I think in the future I'm gonna stick to medium or small saws to mail.

Me Too!! Anything over about 20" is becoming a real pain to ship and they complain about the shipping charges.. I'm starting to sell them without bars if I sell them other than local.

Big Homelite's ???? Yes, go on...

It's a Homelite Buz. I painted it and cleaned it up and it even runs with a little tinkering. The thing weighs a ton so shipping would be more than the saw is worth. My only other choice is to use it as a decoration in the shop.

That's the CraigsList advantage. Local pick up = no shipping. Both sides also know what/who they are dealing with.

I don't know much about mccullochs but there's two on Craigslist NH. They look like gear drives maybe, one's a bow saw. Search "chain saw", two words. $70 obo each.

I have had good luck with CL. and E-Bay. Kept the travel distance down using CL by going as local as possible- savings in gas offset most prices. Nice set of 4 snow tires for my Jeep (almost new) $300. Several Husqvarna 350's that run great (160 + PSI) in excellent condition from E-Bay -all under $150 each. Picked up a cherry 55 rancher for $50 -not running. Found a mouse nest inside the half mounted filter ( carcasses included). Cleaned it out and started 3 pulls- 175 PSI. I went back and gave the guy another $75. He looked like he could use it.

That was a kind gesture. Good job, man. It made my day.

One drawback I've had on CL is that people from far away will call me and ask if I'd meet them halfway. Halfway, in some cases can be several miles. That's sometimes a long way to drive and have the guy not show up or look at it and say they don't want it..

W.T.H.???

Package deal for five runners?? One looks big.

Hard to tell from the poor grammer and lack of clear pictures.

Right up there for the 'worst listing ever' award on evilbay.

Yeah, that's the problem with putting saws you want to sell under the Ferris Wheel at the Gypsy Carnival. It makes it awfully tough to get a decent picture.

I tell them 'No'.

It also may be used as a negotiating 'tactic' - so that you will have more invested in making the deal due to your effort. My feeling is, "I have this; it's for sale; if you want to come look at it, here it is. If it is not worth it for you - OK. If after you have looked at it you do not want it - that's OK too". I have the item and they want it or they don't.

I tell them that we can set up a specific time to meet, and if they don't show up within 15 minutes, I will not promise to hang around. They have my phone number if something legitimate comes up (e.g. traffic) and I have theirs.

I had a guy show up once after agreeing to buy something for $10 (worth much more, but I just wanted to sell it), then stating he 'did not have all the money'. I told him, 'Bummer! You just drove 15 miles without checking to see if you have the money? There's an ATM about 2 blocks away'. Eventually, he admitted that he considered it part of the 'bartering process'.

If people ask me to ship it, I usually tell them 'No'. (Exceptions often made for most A.S. members).

If they ask me to hold it for more than a few hours, 'No'.

i'm pretty much the same when it comes to selling something. i work in ottawa but live right near brockville, so i can sometimes meet in ottawa if it isn't much trouble (you meet me where I say, and at WHAT time I say) i also don't ####er the prices over emails. i tell them i'm asking this much, come and take a look before making an offer. i'll hold something for somebody who is taking the time to travel, and i'm very clear on how long i will hold it for. and i do not use their distance they want to travel as a bargining chip. it's not my problem if you have to travel and it isn't money out of my pocket.

We deal the same way... I have an item for sale and if you want it.... come get it and the price is the price! I will hold it for you on two conditions, you pay full asking price and the item is sold to you, there's no backing out... its sold!
