refresh my mind why the 10mm is dersired? and how does one tell if they have the ten fromo a non-torn down one. Reason I ask is I have one here and I have not looked at it yet beyond seeign that the crank bearings are completely shot from how lose the crank is.

I really don't think it's in good form to cancel a sale after the bidding has started. If he was worried about the low price it was going to bring he should have started the bidding higher. I've cancelled sales before, after three or four days and no bids, I just figured it wasn't gonna sell. This usually happens when trying to sell plastic Poulan saws, they just aren't attractive to ebay buyers. I still try to sell them once in a while...

As this story went, he canselled the highest bids, and sold to one with a lower bid - to me that is a sign that he didn't trust the high bidders for some reason, or didn't want to sell to their location.

Maybe they were first-time bidders or less than 5 star. I see that a lot.

I was high bidder on a saw awhile back. The only bidder at a very low price. The seller canceled my bid at the last second and relisted the saw.. Dirty dealing from my point of view but then I've never been on the selling end so I sure don't speak from experience.

That's why I don't think you should start the bidding at .99. I start the bids at the least amount I could take for the item. Why fix a saw up real nice then take a loss on it?
You were correct, in your case he was guilty of dirty dealing. It's not your fault that nobody overbid you.

If that's the case he should have put that in his ad. Ebay has a system where you can filter out just about anyone you want to, even individuals or locations you won't sell to. He should have done that first and he wouldn't have had to cancel.

Should have - yes!

Anyway, we likely will never know what actually happened, or why...

its about a 2 HR drive. I got in contact with the guy and he said he has some other saws.
Might be worth a look.
