Kind of pieced together, hard to know what's under the clutch cover, but definately an isolating clutch brake:

Stihl 031 AV Chain saw 18" Bar and Chain - eBay (item 330531109596 end time Feb-21-11 12:43:32 PST)

That 031 looks clean. Appears to be an 031AVEQ model. My 031AV has the same white spring loaded pivoting CB handle and a slot on the top of the clutch cover for the CB rod. All of the rest of the CB stuff (including the special clutch bits) are gone however. Mine has the top cover with "Stihl 031AV" cast into it rather than a tag. Has a 'regular' non-CB clutch....

This guy listed this forsale months ago. Then he "Ran the Saw" after he got everyone interested and then pulled it saying he liked it to much...now its for sale again a few months later. :msp_thumbdn:

Vintage Chainsaw Pioneer/ Partner P62 100CC, Hi Perf!!! - eBay (item 110651003836 end time Feb-25-11 16:27:29 PST)

This same seller has had previous items for sale on ebay - with bids on them, only to pull them from the auction. Not good practice, and not fair to the genuine bidders.

Yeah thats Brian from Apse. He has a story on another site. Seems to run into alot of older odd saws.

Yup I remember that saw well. I had made the deal on it and then he tried to crawfish on me. After 4 or 5 e-mails I sorta had him dead to rights, but let it go as I wasn'r so sure the saw would be in such nice shape after all the fuss. I wouldn't be suprised if he had it sold to more than one of us. I guess he has the right to change his mind as long as the money is returned. I just don't like havin my chain yanked.

Ok,
Brian from APSE here.....
Let's clear the air a little.
First, when this saw came into my posession I decided I would not sell it and it went into my working saw collection, I only keep saws that are exceptionally odd or I can work with. Shortly after that a friend of mine who had cut with the saw, and is an arborist locally approached me with an interesting trade, that eventually sold for $1600.00, so I traded with him. This friend has now fallen into difficult financial times and asked if I would sell it for him. Actually this makes kind of sick, because I did hope to see this saw around for years to come and possibly trade him back for it. I STILL DON'T WANT TO SEE IT GO, but it is no longer mine and out of my control.
Second, When you make a living selling saws and repairing and restoring them, you're going to run into people that don't have the money and you take payments sometimes only to have it bite you in the a**! And further If I have something for sale on ebay and some of the other VERY GOOD collectors/customers I know offer me all the money and just have to have a saw that is for sale.... well that is business!
Wild man I took a chain out of personal stash because we ran out once and two of you were both wanting the same last loop of 7/8 chain I had, You're welcome!
Hoss, I contacted you back and you said thanks for being honest at the time that I first had the P62.
I find that time certainly tells about people....
I don't often post here because I am a dealer, but I could not let this one pass. And even if I did I would have better things to do than sit in front of the computer wagging my tongue so that others would think I or my opinions were important.
I am in the business that I enjoy to make money and that's the way it is!
Lastly...
I am about to sell my prize 655BP, because times are tight, and I traded for it on this website.
Will I get berated for this also? I guess time will tell.....
