One thing to consider...cash is king,Ive seen people ask some pretty high prices but when you peel off cash they cant resist and a lot of the time you can buy something for about half what it worth....patience is a virtue.....you mite buy that 064/066 for 450...never know

I'd take the 064/66 just because it's got no ####ing flippy caps. Thats worth $450 right there.

Craigslist in Scotia Humbolt county California. 044 with a couple bars runs won't idle. Say's needs carb work 175$

Coming from that area, I'd bet it's probably plum wore out. Saws up there WORK for a living. Not saying somebody can't get a good deal. Folks just have to factor in some work/expense (beyond "carb work"...........as that's what they all say) when deciding what they're willing to pay. It is possible that the saw is a low time unit that has sat on a shelf for a couple decades (due to carb problems or whatever), but not terribly likely. Only one way to find out...:popcorn:

Fifty bucks.

On a realllllllllly good day. Check with your local saw shops. The XL-12 series were made by the millions, nearly that many are still in service. Most shops will have some older saws, Xl-12's, 10-10's, 605, 610, 650 McCullochs and many more. Never hurts to ask.

The only saw out of a dozen or so I've gotten out of Humboldt county that wasn't completely beat to smithereens was a Disston KB-7B.

It was just too big and heavy to completely beat-up. However, the helper handle had been sheared in half at one point and completely
welded back together.
