You aren't missing a thing and you can find running 044s for that price, I have bought several in that condition for $100 or less. If you take a look at the bidders they all have very low feedback scores, just a bunch of newbies that have no clue or it could be "MR Shill" trying to run the price up.

I am with you on that. Surely the full wrap doesn't carry that much weight. Sometimes the bidding wars are krazy!

Just a guess. With so many here always looking for rear handle/tanks for them, maybe the supply has finally dried up and there bidding on that one for the tank.

Its amazing, the next auction I saw under that one was for a complete 044 that ran but not well, and it was in the high 200s with about the same time left. With those kind of prices I might strip mine down and sell it for parts so I can buy two more that run LOL.

can anbody with better eyes tell me what model this is and what a decent offer would be?

ok lets try this again...good eyes tell me what model this is lol

any idea on its worth?

Jwalker,

Just as a courtesy, you DO understand that re-posting an ad like this directly on this site, brings it to the direct attention of 60,000 chainsaw hungry potential competitors. Right?

In the future, you might want to copy the photos or state a description or model number in a more general way, 'cause I may have been looking for a McCulloch 1-40, and I may have a brother-in-law near Omaha, and . . .

Just sayin.

This thread tends to be more of the, "I saw this, and I am not interested in it, but some of you guys might be . . . " type.

Yep I understand.....Im interested...but not so interested that I
wouldnt take a step back if somebody had been looking for one....Im also very close to omaha and have friends in columbus....so if a guy needed it picked up.....

any idea on its worth?

If it runs I would say $100 max, last runner I bought on Ebay costs me $75 shipped from Wisconsin.

EDIT:
If you look at it make sure you pay attention to the carb. The Mac carbs are expensive to rebuilt and you are pretty well limited to just gaskets and diaphragms, but the Tilly HL was available and a much better carb IMO.

AND then you may be giving someone else's good fortune away before they have acted on it.... just sayin:msp_wink:

Just saying something here causes chainsaw hungry people to search your area FOR YOUR DEAL and then opens the door for a steal....BAM, it's gone before you even get the call back saying its gone..... or worse, a scum bag calls and tells them the saw is worth 10 times there asking price.. have had that happen numerous times! There are scum bags right here as well... probably reading this just like you are right now.

I have had the good fortune to pick up a couple of saws locally off of CraigsList, that I found out about only because someone posted them in this thread.

I would not post a link or a reference to a saw that I was actually trying to buy - I would want to get it in my hands first, then maybe brag about it a bit here on A.S.
