Is that a SOLO in that picture??

Dude, sorry. I didn't know I was only supposed to post good deals that were not local to any other AS members. Rather, I thought this post was to inform EVERYONE to good deals that we can't or don't want to purchase ourselves. If I wasn't in the works of buying a really nice Homelite 2000, it would be on it's way to Ohio. So I guess, I'll never post another CL deal here, since I'd never know who I might me hurting/helping. And don't worry about posting the Ohio saws...I will already know about them.

Wait,
Your in here looking like every one else?
So why slam a person doing what your doing.
Kinda odd.

And please post every thing in Ohio.
Save me the time from looking in CL.

Matt,
Do I peruse this thread? Yep, I sure do. I like to laugh at all of the quirky, weird, outrageously priced, horribly spelled, and sometimes cool old saws that people post up......myself included.

If you took the time to actually read what I had written it would have been readily apparent what "ticked' me off about it.

Was I wrong to crack back on Jim as hard as I did? Yep, and I have apologized to him for that.

Nice! Buy it. It's worth the money for sure. I've only seen ONE 245A listed in my local CL area over the last several years. Was about a year ago. The guy was three hours away from me, and never answered his phone. He DID leave a return message on my phone two whole months after I'd last left a message on his. I tried calling back...........................but had to leave yet another message. He never returned that one. In his pic, the saw looked about as nice as the 245A you just posted the link for, but had a 24" bar, had some vague reference to it needing "carb tuning", and had silver pipe insulation duct taped around the handlebar. From the message he left, he sounded eastern european, with a shakey grasp of the english language. IIRC the listing also stated that the saw was "professional strengs" or something equally confusing....

That saw is way the heck up in Maine. I am in Georgia, or I would have already gone and bought it if it was around here. I was just going along with the argument on posting outside your area, for deals, if anyone is interested.

I can deal with known members here mail order, but I don't have the extra scratch to try and attempt a cross country sale with someone I don't know anything about. Bucks are *always* tight here. For guys who can chance losing cash and it isn't such a hit to them, that's fine, but I can't chance it. Saw running money is down the list of must haves for me right now.

Much as I would like a spare 245 for parts. Heck, there's a nice 288 in the classifieds here I would like, at a real fair price...can't afford it. Been looking for a much larger and more modern saw for quite a while now, to cut the big stuff here. Local husky shop wrench has a used 28 inch husky bar he has squirreled away for me, just can't find a saw to put it on so I haven't bought it yet. Largest I have to cut big stuff is that 245a with a 20 on it. So, a lot of big logs and trees are hanging around "seasoning", HAHAHAHAHAHA I just don't want to kill that old saw over working it with a small bar. So...I ain't.

Did get my five hundred dollah project 4x4 diesel chebby truck running the other day though, still lots more little stuff to fix, but point A to B is now possible, with just 2wd for now. That truck stuff gets to be expensive as well. I got a cool military trailer to go with it, but I'll need a full hitch with a pintle, or a lunette ring adapter to tow it. That combo will be my new to me firewood rig whenever it is finished

unfortunatly, we aint allowed to carry up here. the next best thing is physical size. i have had dope head try to intimidate my g.f. on a number of occasions and when they see somebody almost 6" taller and over 100lbs. heavier they do tend to get a little white in the face and walk away.
too bad for them i'm also fast. i've had numerous assault charges against me:laugh: most of them dropped after a good long talk to the crown.
i would love to be able to carry. would love to be able to have one in the car/truck for the times you might need one. like the roadrage incident last summer......;)

Physical size will only carry you so far with someone with their faculties intact. Meth, crack and other assorted trusties in modern chemistry DO NOT. I work in one of the busiest trauma centers and they try this old man on for size weekly. It usually ends not too well for them, got no tolerance for it anymore, didn't when I was younger either, have even less patience for it today. I'm not a little guy either, close to 2 metres tall and 270 lbs of power lifter and people STILL try me on for size.

Well he doesn't share bacon so it must have been a saw..............pics, please?

Jon, your facts are skewed a bit ... the man refuses to share Smoked Bologna ..... there are witnesses ..

Here is your pic, young lad. An Oregon 311AX Grinder, a HF grinder set up for rakers only and a Mac SP40 'saw in a box!'

Jon, I believe Ted meant 511AX.

And I did share the smoked bologna. Even bought a big bunch of it to those to lazy to walk over to the smoker. :hmm3grin2orange:

I'm tired of getting besmirched around here. :msp_mad:

I stand corrected .... seated, actually.

Besmirched? Not from me, dude ....

I learned MANY moons ago that ".. there is a very fine line between credit and blame .."

Steve, I'll always give YOU credit! Besides, I'm a happy guy! Why would I slam you?
