sorry to hear of your dealings with a douche dealer saw dr. i think the real douche is the guy that made a deal and didn't hold to it; that's a douche and worse. glad i don't live in ohio. lol. i can tell ya it weren't me. don't know if you posted your intent but if i saw someone state on here that he intended to make a deal with a seller i wouldn't get in between them. might be good to make intentions known. some on here would honor that intention but i know some wouldn't. doesn't hurt to try though.

You sound as though you know it's an AS member. Did you get a name (note--I'm not asking for the name)?

but it does suck that the seller didn't honor his agreement with you.

I feel for you. We have had lots of discussions on this, and know that both buyers and sellers can be _________ (fill in the blank).

With this guy and his wife involved, it's possible that the Ohio buyer did not even know that the guy agreed to sell it to someone else.

Too many flakes on CL. Usually its the first one who shows up with the money. If I agree to hold it, its only for a few hours, and if they don't show up by a specific time . . .

That is the problem!!! I'd have gone over there as soon as he returned my call but he wouldn't let me. He told me he was out of town and I couldn't go until today. If I'd have known Paypal would have sealed the deal, I would have offered it. Didn't think he would sell stuff if he was not going to be home until today. I started trying to get ahold of him at 7:00 AM.... Anyway, the deal is done now. New owner can pipe in if they want.

I'll be very surprised if they do Tim. I feel your pain however.......:sucks:

Why yes, they are. I made a deal with the guy on his terms, and he didn't honor it. Methinks someone dangled a bit of cash in front of him. Oh well. I hope the cases are broke by the bad cranks and fried top ends.

Sorry to hear that Tim. I can't tell you how many times that's happened to me. There's about a dozen saw maggots in my local (none of whom are members
here) area that continually undercut individual buyers like myself and all of them are ebay re-sellers...
Case in point I had a deal made on the phone for a mint BP655 a few months ago for $250 and it came with a like-new 42" bar and chain. I offered Paypal
and the whole nine yards and said I'd be there later that day. I get there, cash in hand, and one of the local saw maggots is pulling out with the whole shebang
in the back of his truck and he'd only gave $200 for it. I asked the seller what the problem was and he just said "well, he got here first..."

Personally I would have waited around for another fifty bucks.............not to mention honoring a previous agreement.

Hey Aaron, I can't believe I got $550 for that ProMac 800 I promised you dibs on.............;)

For clarification I still have the PM800, but I made Aaron spit coffee all over one morning when I told him I sold it for $550.

On the flipside of that coin, I've actually had real good results in my Craigslist wanted ad by mentioning that I'm not an
"ebay reseller." I've had old guys call me and they say things like "I'm not dealing with those ebay culls" or "I'm not
giving someone a good deal on my old saws just so they can make a fast, easy buck."

I've gotten some primo old runners that way. As with anything, a good attitude goes a long way.

Heck yes! In fact I would use the fact/knowledge that someone else is coming by with cash to at least RAISE the price to the first guy trying to cut in. If I am going to be less than honorable about the whole thing, I might as well be greedy at the same time, right?

Well if that's the case, then I guess I'm **** out of luck..............LOL!!!

Just a local version of working out a deal, driving all the way to the sellers, and finding out that some out of town guy called him, and when he found out the saws were esentially "sold" he offers the seller 25-50% more to ship them.

Tim, from what has been posted, it's possible that the seller, his wife, & the buyer from Ohio didn't mean to screw you over. OTOH something about the deal really stinks.

Jacob, I think that "saw maggots" should be a new catch phrase here on AS (seriously).

To my knowledge I've only had one AS member go behind my back on some NLA/Nearly Impossible To Find parts, which was partially my fault*. He's still around, & I won't do business with him (he does non-sponsor selling here) no matter how badly I need the part or want the saw.

*Note--Never mention a pending deal, wait until after you have the parts/saw(s) in your hands.

I did a quick member list search, and "saw maggot, or sawmaggot" are available if anyone is interested in a name change...............LOL!!!

Sorry guys, The last 1.5 pages is pretty out of character for me. I strive to have a level head in all situations, particularly living in a house full of girls. God gives us what we NEED, and I surely don't need another saw. It is not like I was actually going to sell either of those saws and make a profit if I had gotten them. It is only a saw. I'll get another, and I didn't need them. If I need to cut with a 460 (or other 80cc saw) I can just go get one of mine and get to it. Sorry for the public whining.

It's OK Tim. Certainly understandable. This thread can be a 2 edged sword. Like when a guy who has never posted here before (I believe) with 36 posts in 3 years and posts the deal I am working on.:angry::angry:

Sometimes venting is good for you, better that you vent here than kick your dog. But if you happen to have a dog that likes to attack your trimmer & mower while you're using them............................
