I know who got them! Not I!!!
It was yesterday morning the buyer told me of the deal.
There was no mention of a pending offer.
Understand your frustration! But damm, isn't the hunt the fun part!

If you haven't missed a deal, you haven't had CAD long!!

The buyer is a stand up guy in my book! As is Saw DR.!!!

Come guys, it is just not saws but any collectable or something that could be flipped!

Sorry guys, The last 1.5 pages is pretty out of character for me. I strive to have a level head in all situations, particularly living in a house full of girls. God gives us what we NEED, and I surely don't need another saw. It is not like I was actually going to sell either of those saws and make a profit if I had gotten them. It is only a saw. I'll get another, and I didn't need them. If I need to cut with a 460 (or other 80cc saw) I can just go get one of mine and get to it. Sorry for the public whining.

I don't even have a single over 70 cc class saw yet.....want to hear me whine, slap in your plugs WHINE

so, you already own numerous over 80 cc saws? Whatcha whining about? What ya gonna do with another one???

HAHAHAHAH

hehehehehe

hohohohohoho

I see them on CL, but deal or not, all of them are too expensive for me, and I could actually use one now and then. Heck, I haven't even found a decent _bar_ over 20 inches yet to fit on my 245a......

I *almost* ordered one new but it sticks in my craw to not be able to scrounge one up used, so I didn't. Glad I didn't, checking finances and bills today, primarily pet bills, food and meds, etc...can't afford a bar. Let alone a bigger saw.

Jacob, I think that "saw maggots" should be a new catch phrase here on AS (seriously).

It's a phrase left over from when I worked at the Forest Service. On our district there were handful of private citizens who would be waiting in line
at the district office before we opened early in the morning to get special use permits (essentially they were buying a single log) when they would
find downed trees near roads. We called them "the wood maggots." The one guy dealt in Cedar exclusively and was probably making around $60k
a year for himself after expenses making various wood products.

I think I know who got them as well and I really don't think that person knew that Tim had a pending deal with the guy.
I think it was more a case of the sellers just taking money from whomever got it there first. It's going to happen with
as many of us chasing saws as there are. We're bound to end up chasing the same saws.

I know who got them too, but I didn't when I started the thread. I called the seller again to ask him WTF, and to see if the saws had actually shipped or not (they have.) Sorry for the bad press man. I'll be glad to have a beer with any of you guys, (well most any.....) Mean time I'm going to be keeping an eye out for a cheap 70cc+ machine for Nardoo.

I hope that wasn't me. I've never consciously gone behind someone's back and swooped up a deal, although I'm tempted to pry that Mini-Mac away from Jon's area.

What would make some guy getting a log then MAKING something useful from it a "maggot"? What was the consensus there for government employees, I will assume being paid off the public's dime, that they would use that term, the wood should just rot, get burnt up in a forest fire, or what? What am I missing here? So what the guy made 60 grand a year working, he was working a useful productive job wasn't he?

Because he would consistently "create" opportunities for himself, like felling trees at night and then conveniently "reporting" a downed tree. We found many trees that
been winched over, and his was the only truck reported to be in the area. He was later fined by the state for stealing $40k worth of timber off state lands.

Jacob, no, it wasn't you. Some of your comments posted here on AS lead me to believe that you've had some issues with this person. He is very dry (nearly humorless), cantankerous, & enjoys being coy about what parts he has and his sources for obsolete parts.

Actually that NIB Mini-Mac would make a nice shelf queen for a Mac collector.

It sucks to keep hearing about folks here getting 'snaked' by other AS members.
This thread is a love/hate thing, but I really like reading it compared to the "chainsaw" section. I'm pretty much over telling people why their saw is pulling to the right.

By far the worst and most loathed is the CL sellers that don't hold true to a deal made on the phone. After many verbal agreements falling through because of higher offers, etc..., now I just ask directly if they are going to sell to another person before our meet-up time. This usually puts them on the spot to hold true to their agreement. Some sellers have proven to be honest and some are just ready to bend over to whoever waves $ at them.

For what it's worth, I prefer to stand aside and let a deal go by if someone beats me to it. Living in the PNW, there are lots of big saws to find, but back east I can understand why people get cut-throat.

At least we have this thread to vent about how much we hate this thread......

Wow, I should have logged in earlier to see I was getting dogged on. I got the saws. I called the seller asking if he had any other saw stuff he wanted to sell separately because I personally don't want to pay $500 in shipping for a bunch of junk blowers and weed eaters just to get 2 saws I know nothing about condition wise. Seller told me he had 2 saws left. Said some guy showed up and changed his mind on the saws but took the blowers and weed eaters instead. He said he had no other offers. He told me a cheap price. From what the seller told me I didn't know I was stepping on anybody's toes. I don't go out and snipe other peoples good deals. I always search CL state wide for saw deals and I have friends that can attest to that from the 6 pages a day I forward to them to see if its something they want or think is a good deal.

Glad to see you chime in. No hard feelings. The seller was pretty good at English, but it was
obviously a second language for him. He tried to get me to come and get the other stuff yesterday

Sorry guys, but there really is no honor when it comes to craigslist. When I go to sell something, usually the first two interested buyers fail to show up at a scheduled time to check out what I am selling. Often they already commit to buying the item, yet then fail to show. No call or anything.

If I get a real cash offer, I would certainly reneg on a verbal phone deal. I don't like to do business that way, but that's the way everyone else does it around here.

Well...
I give the seller a reasonable time to show up and if they don't make it or call to make further arrangements.... then it's the next in line guy until picked up. I've had guys call and offer more.... sorry, the deal was done with the first caller...... move along. I hate scumbags!

I'm glad there is no hard feeling over this CL deal. I think all the blame of this goes on the CL seller. Yes, it's a little competitive to have people asking the seller to ship... my rule of thumb if it's been up for more then a few days then I'll call and see if they'll ship, I try to give the locals time to pounce.

I've held things for over a week for people to make up their mind on a haggled price and had a list of 5 people deep willing to pay me my asking price. I just keep a list and tell them were they stand right away, "deal pending, your number X in line, ect." I call them back even if I sold it to someone in front of them in line so they can stop anxiously waiting. I'll wait a while, within reason, to sell something to the first person that I agree to a deal with. Unfortunately that is not how the majority of CL sellers work.
