Stihl chainsaw 076AV

looked to see if this had been posted yet but couldnt find it so here ya go

I would rather buy a new MS461 for that price. I have never been much of a fan of that series of stihl, a little flat for the cc's as I have out cut a nice 075 with a 2100 husky. Of course I only paid $15 for the last 075 I picked up and sold it for $100.

VINTAGE CRAFTSMAN CHAINSAW

Yup.... That's a sucky saw with a big price tag. Welcome to Craig's list:)

Actually that's a very good saw, with a too-big price tag. It's a Craftsman branded Echo CS301 or CS302. Great little saws. He's asking about $150 too much however...

Yep, thats the one. Got a better deal then what you suggested it would take for it to move out.

As for the performance, I'm well aware and I had a 1100 at one time. I have been looking for a 2100 as a replacement for some time as it has some needed improvements over the 1100.

I agree 100%. Biggest improvement for me is the addition of the manual oiler. The 1100CD, along with many larger saws from Husky and others (including some green 85cc saws) would be improved with manual oilers in addition to the auto pump. Even when the auto pump is capable of putting out a boatload of oil when cranked up, there are still times when the manual comes in handy (and it lets you turn down the auto pump a tad for 'normal' use). I had a 1100CD briefly, and hope to pick up a 2100CD or 2101XP someday.

when you get it make sure to share over in Norm's 2100/2101 thread.

Norm will be glad to see that Mark has picked up a 2100.:D

The best are some of the Echo's, and the big Alpina's. They have "adjust on the fly" oilers, that completely gush oil when turned all the way up. The older 3120XP's have the "oil gush" override too. I used to have a 3120, that saw would empty the tank in about 30 seconds with the oiler override engaged.

While browsing craigslist, I came across an ad for a brand new Stihl MS070 with a 36" bar and chain for $650. To me, that seems awfully cheap for that size of a saw. It has pics but they are not very good but it still has the plastic on the top handle. How long ago did they quit making these saws?

I don't think that they ever made them for sale in the US. They still make them for Brazil and some other third world countries.

The Chinese will ship the knockoffs here though. And, coincidentally, they usually sell for around $650....:msp_biggrin:

Aaron, is this the one you are looking for? A little pricey but it is pristine.....

Vintage Craftsman Chainsaw 2 3A Poulan S25DA Mint Only 15 MIN of Use 1980 | eBay

Close, but no cigar. I'm looking for the countervibe version of that saw.....with or without PowerSharp. Basically it'd be a Craftsman red Poulan S25-CVA. I'd prefer a non-PS saw, but can aways swap a non-PS clutch cover onto a PS saw if that's what I end up with. I have a saw like the one pictured, although not as nice. My saw is a 2.1A (red Poulan 25DA), while the saw in the auction is a 2.3PS (S25DA-PS).

That saw sure is cherry. He's asking a 'cherry' price for it too.:D
