No, I'm not thirsty.

A buddy gave me a very used 20" 3/8 Picco 3003 mount bar to play with. I've wanted to try this on one of my MS261s. So far, I'm liking the results.

If I continue to be pleased with the performance, I'd like to get a new bar - 3003 mount, 20", 3/8LP (Picco), .050 - because this one is quite worn. Problem is finding that configuration. I've spent a fair amount of time searching and the closest I've found is a UK site that is out of stock.

If you know of a source, I'd appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. Thanks!

3003 mount 3/8 LP/picco are hard to find. Also loops of chain with correct tooth count for 3003 mount saws. They all seem to be for 3005 mount/small saws

I use them for milling on an 066.

I know that GB has made them but I don't know a current source. There was a place called Left Coast Supplies that went of business that had them.

I miss LCS

Bar price is a bit dear ($80 + VAT) but not out of line, but shipping to US is $180. Oh well....

MS261 is spec'd for a .325 drive sprocket - at least mine is...how would a 3/8LP even get pulled by a .325 sprocket? how many DLs is that chain for the 20" 3003 bar?

£40 + VAT = £48 converted to USD = $63.10

No way that shipping should cost that much. If the bar is under 2kg then Royal Mail normal air mail rates apply. It would be more expensive if the weight is greater than 2kg but nowhere near $180.

Edit: The website shows the weight as 1.13kg, well under the 2kg limit.

Change sprocket to 3/8 🙄 sprocket and tip must match.
3/8 on a 3003 is 72 for 20".
84 for .325, I believe...maybe 81...

Interesting difference in price between what you see and what I see. Below is the display when I put a bar in my cart. I see that I misread the $180 when I first posted - it is minimum order for USA, not the shipping - my bad.

Stihl makes small spline 3/8 picco rims, can't use 3/8 drive or bar tip sprockets with picco chain.

DLs are same as regular 3/8" chain, they have same pitch as 3/8 picco, using 3003 bar mount, 60 for 16" 72 for 20" 84 for 25" bar.

I swap those out on my 066 when I'm milling with picco.

If you want one shipping over PM me. I reckon the all-in price would be around $100 but I wouldn't know the exact cost until I went to the Post Office.

I need some bits and pieces from the same supplier anyway, which would negate the UK postage cost.

That is a very kind offer. If it were almost two years ago when I got the bug to experiment with this, I'd have jumped on that in heartbeat. As it is now, circumstances are keeping me out of the woods more than I'd like and I'm more concerned with reducing my collection, not expanding it.

Thanks!
