There are four holes that need to be drilled on each side of the handle to accept the starter switch/rectifier. Three that hold the assembly in place and one set that hold a roll pin that the starter lever pivots. The eight total holes must be drilled precisely so that the screws and roll pin are alignrd properly. I found that if I cut the old handle into pieces I could drive the throttle trigger partially into the pattern and then into the corrospondind hole in the new handle. Then I could use it as a drill guide. After I carefully lined up the pattern whilth the handle the first hole I drilled was the pivot roll pin for the switch lever. Using a 3/32 drill I drilled through just the side with the pattern. Then I lightly drove the second roll pin in gently to lock the pattern in place while I drilled the 1/4 inch holes on the left side. Then I did the same for the right side except I used a 5/64 drill on the last three holes to be tapped to accepth the three 4-40 screws that hold the starter switch/rectifier in the handle.IMG_20140115_111431.jpgIMG_20140115_111625.jpgIMG_20140115_111632.jpgIMG_20140115_112157.jpg

There may be a stick or two of 30" wood down at the lot - but with the cold, wood is going fast. If you can come on a Saturday and let me know a week or two ahead of time I might be able to scrounge of some 3 to 4 footers. They'll feed you breakfast and lunch. And slap you on the back as none of them like cutting the bigger stuff. During the week, we will be at the mercy of what is on the lot but there are usually some 30+" pieces. Ron

BTW I took 1/16" off the intake skirt of my failed rebuild. I hope that is what you meant by your earlier posts. I used the dowel, drill and sandpaper method to remove the aluminum transfer. I still can't believe I overlooked it the first time around. Maybe I'll have it finished by the time we get together.
 
You removed the metal from the right spot. I think you'll notice an increase in power. It seemed to move the power band up so the saw holds a higher rpm in the cut.

I got everything preped for assembly. Bearings oiled, rings clocked, seals greased, sealing surfaces cleaned and so on. I usaually rough up the crankcase flanges lightly with 400 wet/dry paper to have a very clean surface and give something for the motoseal to stick to. Then I wipe all sealed surfaces down with denatured alcohol to remove any oil or grease. Assemble the two halves and torque the large bolts in the oil tank to 60 in-lbs and hand tighten the small outer bolts with a 1/4" nutdriver. Joey, are you kidding me! A fancy electric start chainsaw and no auto oiler!:p i've got one on the shelf to replace the manual only pump. Just thought some may want to see the manual only check valve. Its the first one ive ever seen. I've played around with possibly doing a simple port job on a 54cc cylinder and i think i may play with triming a little off the skirt on that to see if it makes a difference for the better.
 
I couldn't help make recommendations on port mods. I have to talk to the experts and do as they say. What works on the 82cc motors may or may not work on those 54cc models. Maybe mark will tell us again about that modded 10-10 he saw that was the fastest in its class at baraboo
