Cute little beaver

My wife got me a free "Eager Beaver". As near as I can tell it has no spark. What is the diagnosis?

only problem i have is my ipls only go to a 600123-10 now if the -12 is the same as the -10 then we have it covered as far as getting part #s

hopefully mark can shed some light on this if it may be the same or not

we either have a pts ignition on here or a cdi ignition so we will need to determine which one it has
good news is i know where i can get some good used mac saws at if needed

I don't know about the 2.0 Eager Beaver, but my 2318 (2.3 In³) has the CDI coil. I got one locally from an old McCulloch dealer for $42 (too much to pay but he needed my business) and $23 for one from PES+.

I can't get to my IPL's while on line due to computer problems this week, I will have a look when I can...

Mark

Calvin, did you get my PM regarding the EB/Mac Cat clutch drums?

i wish my wife still had her "eager beaver." she modded it and it is now the "eager beaver with a headache" model. it is difficult to start, doesn't run well when hot, and is very high maintenance. on the positive side, it does seem to respond well to ethanol.

Seems to be a common problem these days, you lay out the money for what you think is a "Pro Model" and end up with something suited for "Occasional or Weekend use only".

occasional use would be nice. mine more like a classic that is neat to look at, great to fondle every once in a while, but cantankerous to get to run for more than a few minutes, and wants to die at the first sign of a hardwood log. i won't even mention more portly than the newer models with a lower specific -output!!!!!

IPL for the 6000123 models shows points & condenser, in that case check out one of the points & condenser threads if you are not familiar with the system. Very likely all it needs is to clean and gap the points and you should have spark again.

I've rebuilt several old scorpion snowmobiles that had points. had to sand them down a bit and regap. Where do i find the gap setting?

Husqvarmit - If you really got a Super 797 and it is in any kind of useable condition, you have a very desireable saw. This was the precursor to the SP125, 123 cc model and if I'm not mistaken the Super had superior porting as compared to the 797. I think it has a cast iron sleeve so it could be overbored if needed.

If you decide you don't want to keep it for some reason, please keep me in mind.

If you need an IPL or help with the saw let me know and I would be happy to do what I can. Hoss would also be an excellent source as he had a very nice example himself.

The saw has good compression and fire and is complete. Haven't tried to start it but if it starts I would like to restore it back to original. I take it the parts are going to be and issue. But will keep you in mind if I get tired of messin with it.

Casey

If you don't mind I will take all the info you got on that saw. Also if you don't mind if I have questions about can I contact you. If I ever learn how to use the extras on this site I will send you a picture of it.

Casey
