I've started tinkering on the PM55 while waiting on parts for my other saws, and now have it down to the powerhead. It's very dirty with lots of bits to replace, including the sparkplug wire. It's heavily carboned up as well, so I'm going to take it down further to clean and replace the seals too since I've got a set.

Can anyone give me the dimensions of the P/N 92517 rings? I recently got a set off ebay locally, thought I'd put them in the PM55 if/when needed, but the currently installed rings appear thicker through the exhaust port (will get the calipers on them when apart).
I've measured the replacement rings' thickness and width as about 1.2 mm (~0.047 in.) and 1.75 mm respectively.
I'm also adding a pic of the current rings below.

I may have some Oiler question on this project. The crud on this poor thing set up like concrete and had cemented all over the area where the bar oil comes out. Kept brushing and found what I assume to be a check ball and found the hole where the oil should come out the side. I’m just not super familiar with the set up.

First off ,for McCulloch if the flywheel turns its not that dirty!
In your pic, the red circle is where the check valve is, and the oil hole should be at the top of the bar pad recess(blue)

Lol that’s funny. Unfortunately I know nothing about this poor thing. It just came along with some auction stuff if memory serves me right. Attaching some post cleaning pics.
my big question at the moment is about how far should I go with a small drill bit ( by hand) cleaning the hole where oil comes out?
This blasted concrete/ crud is imbedded in there. Thinking it may be time to remove the Oiler and come from the other way if I don’t get through it soon. Probably in 3/8” at the moment.

A welding tip cleaner is what I poke in there and give it some thumb pump action to clear the crud.

That ball is not a check, it is a plug. The port is drilled and cross drilled and the ball plugs one path so the oil comes out where it should.

Awesome thanks. The case has some stage 4 cancer but I’m hoping it be ok. Thanks so much for the tips guys.

Haha thanks Bob kern. I believe thats a remimgton SL4A which is the newer model/version of the PL4. I will have to see what parts are interchangeable. Here's the Mike acres breakdown of the saw

The parts list is essentially the same as my pl4 i got from ebay which turned out to be a member on this site! I believe the main difference is the addition of an automatic oiler along with the standard manual oiler. But I could be wrong. I'm about as green as that jd when it comes to vintage chainsaws so guys please bear with me

For whoever may be interested in knowing, this is my limited knowledge of this saw.
got it to run but needed work on carb probably. Don’t believe it was oiling. Will revisit it when I get a chance. Got all those new toys..... I mean tools last night to check out and I’m in a tree stand this morning. So much to do so little time!!

Must be slow hunting..lol
