I’m trying to replace the one piece clutch hub and rim sprocket on my dads 2-10. The part number is 65370. I found a two piece that’s suppose to fit. What keeps the sprocket from riding over into the case? Is there a different washer than the shim that is between the current one piece and crank boss or does the chain and bar just keep it centered? Like does the sprocket float and it won’t run into the case?

Horrible. Same place I always hunt and I’m usually done opening day around 11.
Sat all day and nothing but squirrels!

If you buy the Oregon kit it will come with the required washers, and yes, the sprocket just floats and it is held in place by the bar/chain.

got it to run but needed work on carb probably. Don’t believe it was oiling. Will revisit it when I get a chance. Got all those new toys..... I mean tools last night to check out and I’m in a tree stand this morning. So much to do so little time!!

Brufab it looks like you were the fella I talked to first about the green Remington aka John Deere. If you want to pm on I’d be glad to but you’ll have to tell me how to do that unless I can corner one of my teenagers!!

North East Tennessee MAC Report

Beautiful two days in North East Tennessee - yesterday and today. Temps high 20s to high 40s. No wind.

Yesterday afternoon was spent at the shooting range on the dozer pulling out the trees that I fell last Saturday, followed by Brian and I bucking them into 10' lengths. He ran his 1010S and his Chinacom big bore 660, IIRC. I ran an off-brand. We spent the morning loading trailers with Brian directing traffic, bucking and trimming the occasional odd log while I ran the tractor. In the afternoon, we discussed the joy of cutting with 125s and the misery of carrying one through the vines and briars. After that we fell another round of dead ash. There were two big ones that made a nice loud boom when they hit the ground. The smaller of the two was taken with my PM800 and the larger with Brian's PM800. We fell a few more smaller ash with an off-brand but had to pack it in for the day when some trap shooters showed.

Sorry no pictures. Not sure we will be cutting next week except a turkey or ham.

It’s a Performance Saw Supply brand from Lil Red Barn. It came with the hub, sprocket, and bearing but no washers. I guess if the sprocket just floats it should be ok? I have the original shim washers.

Are there more than one version of a Mac 55? When I check acres site, the pic doesn’t look like my saw. Mine has a “ short” gas tank top half stopping at the air box. The one in his pic is like my pm 700& 850 where the top half of the gas tank extends back around the air box.

Hi Bob, to the best of my knowledge all PM55s have the latter tank top, with raised air box sides like the PM700, PM10-10 etc. The top half is black, the air box lid yellow.

I’ve noticed in one of your pics that your tank bottom has carb adjustment holes like those on my 5-10 & 7-10 tank bottoms, never seen this on a PM55.

There were several carbs on the PM55 including what appears to be both an SDC and HS that were fully adjustable according to the IPL I have which seems to cover most (if not all) of the variants. I'm sure Mark can provide any necessary clarifications.

Actually, yes..., sorta. There was a large frame 55 series back in the late 50s early 60s.
