You guys look like you could use a stupid newbie question. Haven't seen one in several pages.

Will a bucking spike from a 610 fit a 10-10?

610, the later model saw, not a 6-10.

I'm pretty sure the later 10-10 with chain brake uses the same one as the 610/605/650. It will not fit the RH starter, or non chainbrake older versions.

Tillotson HL carb

Here's a question since we are on the subject of rookie Mcculloch fixers/collectors.

Are all Tillotson HL series carbs the same as far as the rebuild kits?
Let me Rephrase that do all Tillotson HL series carbs take the same rebuild kits?

Just drill the holes. The recess for the nuts are already there, drill 3/16" in the center of the indents. Use #10-24 machine screws w/nylock nuts.

I picked up an early clutch cover for my PM10-10S so that when I put the 20" bar on it I can save a little weight over the chainbrake equipped cover. I'm upper body strength challanged. 10-10's are portly to begin with.:msp_tongue:

Maybe you need to ship all of the saws that are too heavy for ya to me for proper disposal.

Super Pro 81

A friend of mine gave me a "rough" SP 81 today, but I forgot to put it in the truck. It seems to be locked-up, but complete. This is the first one of these I've seen. Any of y'all familiar with that model? Thanks.

Predeceasor to PM850. Points and condensor unless it is a SP 81E. Great little saws. Ron

Most of the carb kits I've bought have more than enough parts to fit the one I'm working on plus some left over. I'm thinking the left over parts fit different versions of the one I'm working on. I'm pretty sure you could go to your local lawnmower or saw shop and ask for an HL kit and it would fit your carb. That's what I do and haven't had a problem yet.

After starting the 850 for the last time, last night, about 11pm, I gave it a bath in ATF. Since we are having a gloriously sunny day, I worked outside in shirt sleeves and straw hat. I gave the saw an hour in the sun, then wiped off years of muck, with years of muck remaining. I did find a local logging company's name inscribed on the tank, "Simpson Timber Klamath"

.

I worked for Simpson Timber, Shelton Wa. out of Camp Govey. 74-75

when I worked on the landing, chasing or second loading they gave us homey XL 923-924's to run.

Logging OP's in shelton shut down around 83 I think.

Thanks, the bar I have for it is a Oregon hard nose. It was advertised as 18" but it is longer than the 18" Husqvarna bar I have. Looks like it would be close to 20", so 70 DL might be pretty close.

If it's really 18" then it'll take 64 or 65 DL of 3/8" chain. 65 works better with an 8 pin rim. 64 works better with a seven. Same as an XL12 series Homelite. 16" takes 59DL. 18" takes 64DL. 20" takes 70DL. 24" takes 81DL.

Do you have a loop of 3/8" chain on/from a Husky or Stihl with an 18" bar? Try it on the 10-10 with your mystery bar. An 18" Husky/Stihl loop will be 68DL. A 20" Husky/Stihl loop will be 72DL. Oughta be able to figure out what you need to order or have spun up localy with a bit of tinkering.

Just hold on to that saw until the GTG and I'll take it off your hands.

That is how I figured out its not 18", I have a Husky 55 with an 18" bar and the chain didnt fit the bar. But I have a friends 290 right now that I am working on and I think it has a 20" bar, so I will try his chain. The husky bar fits pretty good, and if the chain was shortened a link or two I think the oil hole would line right up.

Hey guys I have a question on the Super Pro 125C.

On the left side of the tank, there is often a hole drilled into the intake section, and it has a plug installed. There is also a smaller hole next to it with a cotter pin stuck in there. What are those for? Nitrous, lol? What years have this option? I know that not all of them have it.

I recently ran into a 125C that I am restoring.

DG-Diaphragms and gaskets only
RK-whole kit, including needle and lever, sometimes the seat, the welsh plugs, screens, everything but the castings, basically. This is what I use the first time, unless I see a problem with the diaphragm or fuel pump.

Which tank? If its the oil tank, its a vent.

I believe you're referring to the access port for the fully adjustable carbs. They may not have put the port on the high fixed jet equipped saws because I think the low metering adjustment is accessed with the filter and cover removed in a different place on the carb body. So far as I know, CP125s and early SPs had the adjustable carb, the later SPs and the c's had the fixed high carb.

1-42

Tried to start the old 1-42 again this morning..nothing, not even a pop so I figured something is wrong. Pulled the new plug out to check the spark..nothing. Tried several times and thought I saw just a little hint of a spark. Got the ohmmeter out to check the coil, ground to end of spark plug, seemed ok so I checked the other side of the coil and I think there's the trouble. I turned the flywheel while checking the primary and never did show that the points had closed, so I tore the flywheel off and cleaned out the mess under it and hosed it off after giving it a bunch of Simple Green. There it sits in the garage, all shiny, but that's all I got accomplished today. I haven't taken the points cover off yet but I'll bet it's a mess in there.
