A friend of mine gave me a "rough" SP 81 today, but I forgot to put it in the truck. It seems to be locked-up, but complete. This is the first one of these I've seen. Any of y'all familiar with that model? Thanks.

Nope, never seen one:msp_wink:

I believe you're referring to the access port for the fully adjustable carbs. They may not have put the port on the high fixed jet equipped saws because I think the low metering adjustment is accessed with the filter and cover removed in a different place on the carb body. So far as I know, CP125s and early SPs had the adjustable carb, the later SPs and the c's had the fixed high carb.

Duh..... sorry for the brain fart. I haven't gotten to adjusting the carb yet, lol.

Thanks for the response.

You can send it to me...:blob2:

quite a few of the 82cc models showing up lately, did cpr run a public information ad? They seem to have a solid following, myself included, coming up on cult status. Prices on nice looking runners is already high, with certain important parts being NLA, a cherry, running model could be in the SP125 price range in the near future.
Someone offered me some parts, better get to following up on that.

We can blame Stinkbait, with his detailed post of his rebuild,,,,

Yep. I say he must give up his beautiful 440 as penance for this terrible turn of events. I'll volunteer to watch after it until we believe he's learned his lesson.....................say for a few years or so. Don't want to rush his rehabilitation. His SP12C would be an acceptible substitution..:yoyo:

Yup, got my fill of the 87s and 123s, time for the 82s:jester:.

If you ever get serious about this, I have a few 82cc saws and only one 123 cc saw. Maybe we can balance each other out a little. :msp_wink: Ron

Should I transcend this place, I hereby authorize you to negotiate such with my estate :hmm3grin2orange:.

I don't even know what that is, so I hope not?

Yeager Creek is a major tributary to the Van Duzen river, that area had some of the finest and largest old growth around. It is also a red hell of heat in the summer and has tremendous rainfall in winter, it is steeper than the Devil's backside and I loved logging there, every minute of it. Not a place for half way measures.

I think I can shave a half pound off the 850 by switching to another muffler, saw will probably run cooler too.

I might would trade the 440 for something of equal niceness, but I could never just give it up. If you think I owe a fine now, wait til you see my rebuild thread on my 1-76 I will be doing soon.

Dude, you really need a big inch geardrive.

I know. I wish that I could buy that 895 with the 101B kart engine in it that Rich Dougan has on ebay at the moment.

Hey, Randy, I noticed that my 440 has the same engine as the 380 because above the 440 model number stamped on the bottom is 380 with a x going through it. What do you know about a 380 mac? How does that compare to the S250?

I don't know either model, I do suspect that both are using the 300s basic motor.

I know that the 380 and the 440 are 87cc saws, but I just don't know if it's similar to the S250. In the end they all bow down to my 125 anyway.:msp_biggrin:

That 895/101 is an answer to a question nobody asked...

Whoever wins better know what they're doing with it.

Geardives are all about torque and the kart engine, so I understand, is a high rpm screamer. Not a truck engine.

From what I recall, the 380/440 does not share the aggressive porting of the S250, nor does the 660 based upon P/Ns.

Entertained the thought of trading the nice, T&C muffler equipped 1-72 for that 440 but... nah!
