Stopped by the shop this morning and they had this old dinosaur waiting for me. This one will just be a table weight. - Sam

Those are OLD pics of my 35A. That bar and chain now reside in RandyMac's stable. The red paint is something someone brushed on decades ago. Most of it comes off with a fingernail. It 'sort of' runs, as the carb diaphragm is sad. Has good compression. The tank bottom is extremely corroded, and was patched decades ago with some kind of brown epoxy putty. It weeps...

I have a 35 that came with a nice (but short) 'oval McCulloch emblem' bar and a loop of 1/2" chain. The tank bottom and other parts are good. The saw feels 'crunchy' when turned over. Probably rusty bearings. Somebody sprayed a pale yellow over the saw to make it look better. I was told that it ran not long ago...

Between the two saws, and possibly with the addition of an NOS carb diaphragm (if the one in the 35 isn't good) a person will have a runner. That person won't be me however, as I'm gonna send the whole shebang to Brian13. He has more patience than I do, and is still lacking in the McCulloch gear drive department.

Aaron, Aaron, Aaron, Aaron.

That saw looks like it needs some serious Barry White/Issac Hayes/Al Green type lovemaking.

Brian13 must have the soul and patience of a "grown n' sexy" black man, ready to get his groove on.

Bah. It's the red paint that makes it look worse than it is. Have you seen the 'before' pics of Brian's Super 250? He's only paying for shipping with these beasts.............and I tried to talk him out of it. The 35's much better looking. Between the two he'll be set.:D

Hey brother man, I'm not saying you're jive or anything, fool.

That paint ain't looking funky fresh though, broccoli slice.

I'm sure when you send them down to Brian he'll have dem lookin' phat in no time.

Haha, alright, I'm done. I know you wouldn't wrong anybody on anything.

I wasn't taking a shot at you by any means, the only one who I toss shots at in this thread is Randy.

It looks like it was used in The Chainsaw Massacre. Ron

People do wierd stuff with saws. Remember the photos that somebody (can't remember who ATM) posted a day or two of his 1-50 and the other old Macs he just scored? One of the saws had the whole starter cover crudely spraypainted green.

I've seen several saws spraypainted black. My XP1020 had black paint sprayed on it many years ago. Looks aweful, but will strip off easily.

The 35A in my pics above doesn't look as bad in person. The red's actualy much more dull, but shows up in the flash of the camera. It also comes off really easily. I doubt the guy even wiped the saw off before he got the red paint out...

My kids have more patience than I do!!! I am just super stubborn. I am excited though, should be completely new to me:clap:.

No painting for these. That is reserved only for those well into the grips of white death. I like wartorn saws. The uglier the better.

Might be!! Aaron has been trying to get me hooked on the Homelites. Might be trying to sneak one in under the guise of a Mac:hmm3grin2orange:.

You are a mind reader Brian, my wife doesn't mind...Sam

That is awesome!!! I am going to have to work on that. Need a saw that I dont mind not fixing to sit inside first. Might be able to pull that off in the computer room, I am the only one that goes in there and it has all my junk anyway.

Aarons lunchbox sure is a mean looking unit - I am sure she will clean up well underneath that red overspray. Best of luck with your first geardrive project Brian - definitely no going back from here on!

Regards,

Chris.

There was no going back after the first time I got that Super 250 to fire. All I will need is something in the 6 cube range maybe gear drive to and I can stop collecting............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................or not:msp_biggrin:.

That would be me. After cutting today, I started cleaning them off with compressed air just to get the big globs of crud off and that green paint started coming off with just the air. Guess somebody was just a big John Deere fan.

Did someone say boat anchor?

Looks like I've started something....look at all those boat anchors.....maybe I'll drive the price up on ebay for top-notch, Spring runoff, drift boat anchors, lol - Sam (nice pics everyone....all in good fun)
