BP-1's are rare because of the limited run made since the factory found out the governor could become a problem and blow the saw up into billions of tiny little bitty pieces, right?

(just testing my memory...I didn't do the search, yet)

Essentially... They recalled them and whatever was sent back was destroyed. Only saw of any kind that I am aware of to have its own registry.

No, the 250 clutch is smaller than the 10-et. al. Your 250 shoes would never touch the drum unless you cut the spring.

Has anyone compiled a list of drum diameters and bearing bore diameters on said drums?

It is something I think all saw runners/collectors could benefit from, as it would make cross-referencing the fit of drums possible and/or much easier.

If everyone bothered to send me a drum from various saws, I.E. McCullochs that I don't already have, Homelites, and so on, I'd suppose I'd be willing to spend a little time every so often painstakingly measuring drums and writing the measurements down.

Man, on second thought, that would be a lot of work. :dizzy:

Maybe someone should kick a thread off, that might work better, as members can post the measurements of specific drums off of some of their saws.

I'm gonna take a shot into the dark here...

the 250 is RH start, thus has a special clutch, and the crank threads/clutch offset/clutch taper are different from the above listed Macs for that drum, and hence the clutches cannot be swapped to allow proper operation.

Your dark shots require night-vision, practice grasshopper...

Wow, that one went way off to the left. :dizzy:

Did some searching, and yeah, I missed that by about a football field and a dime over to the left. Need more sighting in...

I hope I'm not disappointing you all too much.

Rarest = BP-1. Search the history to find out why.

BP1? Find me an 895CL.

I forgot about that one... The 1-81HD, too.

Thanks for the morning distraction on Google! Cool stuff, guys... at least for MAC neophytes like myself.

Only one I could find good info on is the BP-1

I did find some info on the SP125 Kart, and that looks like a beast: kind of like that big dude in a bar that never has to fight because nobody is going to mess with him.

895CL is 103cc gear drive (3:1 or 2:1) with the chrome cylinder like the late model SP-125c and a LH starter, very rare setup.

1-81HD is identical to 1-81, but with a 3.6:1 transmission, slowest of the gear drives on that platform.

Did they ever make a 1-86HD? That would be a nice saw.

Lee, you should make a 797GHD. :msp_biggrin:

Or a 101BGHD

everybody starts somewhere

Yep. We need a shop monkey to clean the toilet and sweep the floor. Lunch and cigar runs need to be done too (after a vigorous hand washing under close supervision).

Until he gets that right, the shop monkey must not post technical info or advice. He may relate personal McCulloch experiences only.

Research before posting.

Lee

Exactly!:cool2:

That would be a wasted project unless you can scare up a 10' bar.............running 3/4" harvester chain.:msp_thumbsup:

Or put a Harley Electra Glide motor on it and have a 797GHDFLHT. Or, is this starting to get out of hand?
