A ported 346XP! :hmm3grin2orange:

Wrong! Sorry, that is incorrect, try again later, better luck next time.
Find the latest "346's are the best thing since women" thread and extol its virtues there, while forgetting all about its tendency to roll over and play dead, the silly little primer bulb inherited from the Poulans, and its garish outfit (weren't any Garanimal clothes that had orange and silver, only thing worse is all orange). May be a nice saw, ain't no McCulloch, and don't sound like one or look like one or act like one, so it has no place here.
Rant over!

Took the 797 out for a spin today. Forgot how loud that thing is:D. Definitely one of my favorites, still just as much fun to use as it was the first time. Saws have been sitting under my bench for too long, I think next time I will take the Super 250 and 10-10 out to play.

Ok ... let's get down to brass tacks here .... a ported 346XP is the greatest thing since pockets (and none of my saws has a primer bulb; neither do my pockets) .... case dismissed.

If forced to choose between a 10-10a and a 610 (I have owned both), I'd choose the 10-10A .... it will run a 16" easy and will do a 20" with a bit of operator patience.

Shoot! Where'd I put my Garanimals?

Pockets? 346's are way better than that, starting one causes the trees to fall into little pieces, all stacked and split, blah, blah, blah.

As great as they are reported to be, you would think HuskvarnalonaredMTDman would make one that way. And at least dress it pretty. Like a Wild Thing, or a metallic orange, to give the plastic the illusion of metal anyways.

610/10-10A

If I depended on one or the other to cut my heating wood, I would jump at the chance to pick the other if its a runner up. If you just played with them, it would be the 10-10, as I'm done playing with the 600's. Been there, done that. Not that much difference in a good example of a 10-10A compared to most examples of a 600, and the AV on them doesn't give them that big an edge. Rather run a lighter saw that vibes a tad more than a heavy saw that vibes a tad less.

Good timing! I got the 10-10A back together and fired up! It's way better feeling than that goofy PM650...

I can't seem to make it cut with power, never tuned an SDC carb, manual says 1 turn out for each needle but when I lean out the low end it never becomes "snappy", have to slowly squeeze to get to RPMs and then once there it doesn't have much power, it does 4-stroke. I am sure it's the carb because it has new seals, new rings, just can't seem to nail it...

What's going on here????

Tax refund season is over. But prices on non-running PM800s powerheads has gone crazy in last two weeks - current eBay listing at $252. Three others sold - $179.37; $180.27; and $203.41. None had bars, 2 had no cover cover and 1 has a cover but is missing the chain brake. The current one does at least have a clutch cover with the brake intact. I guess I won't be finding a cheap clutch cover with chain brake any time soon. :msp_confused: Ron

Here's my third SP105 addition to my collection : it has been barely used by the owner (for too heavy) and sweet runner of course. These old yellow saws really do enjoy a man's day...

The good news is that I made contact with a Mac Tech that worked for Mc Culloch of Belgium for 5 years. He's living abroad now but we agreed to catch up on the Mac History in the near future. Stay tuned

Thanks for all of the input. There seems to be no advantage other than AV for what he will be cutting. I think the 10-10a will be a good starter saw for him. It sat 3 days and started on the first pull so how are you going to beat that. I have adjusted the oiler screw in and out and think I have found a good spot. It pushes some oil out over the clutch cover but I would rather be on the oily side than dry.

Here is the 610 ad if anyone is interested.

Nice, No doubt original bar. Congratulations!

Belgian, nice saw. I have given up (at least for now) on finding an SP105. I bought two in a row only to find they were 125Cs. Ron
Oh, you poor thing! Maybe I should trade my 105 for one of your 125's to ease your pain. ;)

Still a lot of money for a used cinder block IMHO. For some strange reason, they're listed for stupid money on CL.....usually three to five times the amount that 10-10's are listed for at the same time. There are more than a few 600-series saws (including an orange Wards version) listed around here right now. Priced up to $300. Silly. The 10-10's in the same areas are listed for around $50.

Aaron, I was kidding. I believe thats a fair price if it runs well. One thats been gone over, tuned, new bar and chain at the shop for $125 now, may make an ice saw out of it. That one is close to looking that sweet.

I sold one last summer? for $60 that had a new bar and chain, and was orange and yellow and I think that clutch cover was painted black.

Why I'm telling you this I have no idea, now you'll want a fortune for saw 2.

I'd buy 10-10's at fifty bucks all day if they are runners, more so than the 600's.
