Now I'm working on how to get around that 10-10 fuel line. I hate that fuel line. Everyone should note that I live in Alabama. That's my disclaimer for these redneck so called "fixes".

I've been to Alabama, very pleasant in February.

I am working on a 10-10A for my buddy's grandson, I have a new one in a parts order already.

It's a technique used in many Mac saws .... it stinks ...

Is that tape gasoline proof? You said the excess floats in the tank without clogging the filter so that would leave me to believe it is not? If it's not at some point the tank will leak.

It's easy to trim the excess from the outside of the tank but the inside is to hard to trim. I've noticed that after some use I saw the pieces had come off the inside and I dumped them out. After that, I haven't noticed anything else in the tank and that saw get used alot with no filter problems. I first did this on a PM 700 about 10-12 months ago. I don't empty the tank on the saws I use regular so this particular saw has had fuel in it since that time. I haven't seen a leak yet. I figured it will be safe to share this info now. It could start to leak next week and make me eat my words and I would post here to say it works for a limited time. But for now it's holding good on that 700 and a couple others I got. I will always be open to better ideas, please let me know of something else if you guys can think of it.

10-10 a

Joey,

That gasket appears to be working. Been using the saw now for the week cutting the goofy stuff in the wood pile while splitting, no hydro-locking yet.

Thanks again!

Brian

I was working on the 740 last night. I lost my grip on the saw while turning it over and broke the handle in two pieces, underneath the rubber grip!!:angry:

This was after I had the ingition, flywheel, and starter cover on and found the crank cam oil wick lying on the workbench. :bang:

Yesterday was just not my day.

This one.

Broke right at the red line. I thought about grinding off the small reinforcing webs on each side and cutting a piece of plate steel to fit inside and put a few bolts through to hold it in place. It'll all be hidden underneath the rubber handle cover and should hold up ok. Wish I had the equipment to just weld it back up.

THANKS AMBULL!!! And a 125 tank question.

Ambull, the 125 tank/handle arrived today. Thank you very much.

I see all the glue you mentioned in the seams. I assume someone was trying to fix a leak. It is like my other 125s and has several screws - is a 125 tank actually two pieces or do the screws just hold it together during manufacturing? If it comes apart in two pieces, I think I can clean it up and might be able to do my modifications easier.

CP 125 question for you Mac heads. The wire from the kill switch goes into the connector at the top of the picture, but no wire comes from the connector to the coil and the switch does not work. You can see that the coil is grounded from the body through the connector to the bottom of the tank. What would you do? I can try and order the part which is likely a tough part to find and I'm missing the lower wire or drill the center of the connector out and run the wire through the connector so at least it looks original? The saw runs but I have to kill it by choking it to death.

thanks,

Ron,
I looked at a 125 tank and I don't see any bolts holding it together, I bet the glue is holding it together as the top is just a cover and really does nothing more.

These pictures show the seam that has been glued, the head of a screw just below the fuel line hole, and the heads of two screws in the bottom front. Since the IPL shows this as one piece, I am assuming that it is casted as two parts and then screwed together - I don't know whether the halves are also welded or simply bonded with an adhesive. You can also see that someone has tried to remove the screws. Ron

Enjoy that tank lol. I know that despite the handiwork with the glue, it still leaks. I am pretty sure that the two halves come apart and there is a gasket between. That is the way it is with all the other saws I have dealt with.

Best of luck with her.
