I believe the 15 has a straight (non-tapered) crankshaft. The clutch threads right onto the crankshaft, rather than fitting onto a taper and being held on with a nut. That would mean it takes the same clutch assembly as a McCulloch 200 or 250 (and a few other models). Most of the other large frame McCullochs (Super 250, 300, 380, 440, 550, etc) have a tapered crankshaft on the PTO side and use a different clutch assembly. All of these large frame McCullochs use the same clutch drums/sprockets however (whether tapered shaft or straight).

Thanks

I'd like to thank cpr for the pointers to some good info on third port induction, and also madhatte for helping to get the ball rolling. I am pondering this information while I study an old block with a degree wheel on it to see what is happening as the crank rotates. I am trying to relate this to an old MOPAR ram air intake manifold from the 60s.

I asked this befor but I'll try again. I tried to post earlier with some pictures and the posts went off into Moderator land. How long does it usually take for a moderator to clear post and put them on the board.

Thanks, Woody

The bars for the saws I bought got here first. I have no idea what this one is. There's no marks on it anywhere. It's been repainted black. Anyone know?

If that 3-rivet tip is about 1/2" wider than a standard Oregon nose, I NEED it. I have a big 42" that came with a nose all shaved off on one side with the sprocket gummed up. I think it's a General or maybe a Cannon. Likewise no marks -- as I recall, General put everything on a paper label that didn't last too long. Can't remember where I heard that, so I could easily be wrong.

Did someone wack the tail end off of that bar? The closest Oregon bar pattern I could find is a H010. That pattern fits a great number of Partner saws and a couple of Skil saws.

Yup, and the stud slot has been extended to maintain adjustment length. Goes on a 125c that hasn't made it here, yet.

Third Port Induction

Prior to the last articles pionted to by cpr I couldn't believe the third port was supposed to work on the ram air princaple. This was not logical to me because flow for ram air was all wrong at meny point along the path from the Carburetor to the cylinder. The picture above shows that only about 25% of the openning from the carb airbox to the reed plate was open.

Has anyone ever seen a McCulloch chainsaw where this port was completely open (From the factory), or is this someting people have just not paid any attention to.

I did see that certain people were claiming a 15% horsepower increase from this port.

Woody.

Had that one on my watch list because I suspected something like this might happen. I don't get it.

In other news, I just snatched up a pile of 60's parts for next to nothing. What I don't end up needing I'll be sharing.

Nice score Mad 60's parts and next ta nothing is a great find in Warshington. Sharing any roller nose bars from that score...friend!!

The 1-92 was a 103 cc (6.3 In³) two man saw, perhaps someone thought it must be bigger since it came off a two man?

Mark

A-1 to that Mark. Nothing but a two man motor,
Which i believe is the same as any 103cc Mac motor.
I bet the bidders were thinking a Mac 92 kart motor.
The winner will have a big surprise.
Almost a grand for that thing, I was shocked.

He sold a couple direct drives with the same engine a couple of weeks ago and I don't think they brought $200. I was interested in this one until it crossed $250...
