Hey guys. Long shot here, but here goes.

I'm looking for a McCulloch D-44 parts saw or some specific parts from a D-44. Looking for flywheel cover, head cover, head, or ignition assembly with wire. These parts seem to be somewhat unique to the D-44 model. Head has a centered spark plug, head cover has a centered hole for wire, ignition wire is longer than similar saws and the flywheel cover is unique as well. Let me know if you have any of these parts that you'd be willing to let go. Thanks.

You'd better be careful is someone is selling you a 1-44, it is either very rare indeed, or more likely like ocean front property in Arizona...

Mark

Well, its a pretty reliable source so i wasn't concerned about it. The guy told me its a 1-44 ill take his word for it:msp_wink:

I only bought the atlantic ocean once, cant fool me twice!

Scrawny cellphone pics,,,,,, no camera at that moment, rain and nightfall was coming, but thanks anyway. That really is an S250 tho you cant see the AF cover.

Thanks for your input, S250 is favored still among the AS crew.

Im going to add another saw in the mix, decent condition with a few issues but its complete. This one will need a carb kit for sure but runs on a prime as well. Its a 1-76

All these run on a prime.....

S250 (needs most work, possible ring replacement and carb work as well as full cosmetics)

S44 (needs carb work and b/c)

1-76(needs carb work)

So far the s250 has about 5 votes, all others zero. Your imput will decide which one I pull the paying trigger on.........then you will see a pic of it........then a pic completed.

I know where there's a pretty good 250 I can get for around $30. Is there a sure way to tell if it's a super or not? I don't think they're marked and I doubt this fellow will let me take it apart to check the insides of it.

What to buy?

If I am seeing this correctly, the 1-76 is the one to buy (hands down).

I'd buy all three saws even if I had to store two of them in the trunk of my car.

I picked up 2 of em last weekend, see pics a few pages back. I will likely have parts for ya, but I need to look em both over better before I can say for sure. Shoot me a PM.

That's a strong opinion on that one.

Really comes down to condition, pick the two best and carry on.
I ran Mark's 1-76, it was a strong saw.

Fair enough but nothing in this group of saws is not fixable.

One vote for the 1-76 now. Which one will it be?

This is getting difficult:laugh:

Just get all three of them and hide the projects under a blanket while you fix one at a time.

The old saying comes to mind, "out of site, out of mind"

From what i understand and have seen the super 250s have auto oillers with a manual over ride where most stock 250s only are manual oil.

Also i believe i heard that the supers are not stamped on the block as such or not at all cant remember which but someone will be a long real quick im sure that to explain and show the differences

For 30$ who cares pick it up AND THEN take it apart and measure it ... CAD's ADDICTIVE lol

Get them all...

I'd aim for the 1-76 for ease of parts.

As for whether or not an S250... unless there's a LOT of franken-parts, they made 250s 100:1 Supeer 250s. My money'd be on it being a standard if in doubt. Super will, more than likely but not in ALL cases, have a choker flatty carb, horse face cover with 4-holes-a-side, puck muffler, and a full-wrap handle, plus no numbers on the block, or none that say 250...

Someone told me the super 250 has the auto oiler in the gas tank..I was wondering if you could see it by taking the gas cap off and looking inside.
