Thanks fellas. It is doubted, that this saw ever took down a tree? IDK, Im planning on killing a couple with it eventually.
And I knew soon as I walked outside with the bar upside down somebody would say something about it :D

A little front heavy when you sit it on the ground, but will probably leave it like it is.

checked the bar studs on the pm1000. and it has 8mm studs. ? maybe they changed the mount size during the manufacturing run. i'll pull a 9.5 off of one of the huskies and see if the threads are the same on the pm1000.

Another quick question

Still working on a dang mcculloch pm850 now up to about $630 in it - see page 1036 - need a chain brake cover for it - it came with one off a 10-10 so for now i found a cover off a old sp81 but its missing the safety brake spring - i tried using a spring from a 10-10 and dang near took a finger off so anyway how hard is it gonna be to find a correct brake/clutch cover for this saw? Its the earlier pm850 not the super if it matters

A full cover shouldn't be too hard as it is the same as the PM700. I believe a 1010S is also the same - just wrong color. The other 1010s will also work but most have a rib removed. I believe the short CB covers were all the same for the ten series - two models one plain and one with MAC emblem. The shorter ones are harder to come by, but are prized more by some as they are lighter and easier to handle with the full wrap bar. Ron

Hey I just got a SP105, and it is a decent runner. Only problem is the dang HS carb with the fixed H Jet. It runs so rich, probably doesn't get past 7500 RPMS WOT. Is there any way to calm the fuel pump down? Maybe lower the metering lever? Anybody have any ideas let me know. Otherwise, saw is very nice. I know.... pics or it didn't happen. I will get some up later today.

Lowering the metering lever a bit can help. That's trial and error......and tricky. Does that carb have replaceable main jets like the fixed H-side SDC's? The IPL's for saws with fixed H-side SDC's list "optional jets". I'd just swap a fully adjustable SDC20 on the saw and be done with it....

Edit:

My SP105 IPL lists the 029 jet (#88771) as standard. 028 (#88772), 027 (#88781), and 026 (#88780) jets are listed as alternates. Not sure if this IPL matches your saw, or if the pictured/listed cab is an HS like yours or an SDC. This IPL is dated August 1973 and covers 600077A, 600077B, 600077D, and 600077J models with an 11 SN prefix.

Ron, we were talking about the SP40 saws earlier. here is mine with a 18" bar in about 15 month old hickory. yeah, its painfully slow to watch but this shows that just because its slow doesn't mean that it can't pull hard for its small 38cc motor. I put a dual adjustment carb on this saw from a 510 and a electronic coil from a mini mac. no port mods on this one, not even cleaning them up.

Well you convinced me to give a little one a try so I've got an eBay model headed by way. Ron

JP, You can try lowering the lever. But i really wouldn't
go lower than the floor of the body. Which is where it should be.
Best bet is to keep an eye out for the fully adjustable carby.
I will look to see if i have a spare but i think i used. Will let you know.
