I'll follow this truck north up 101 to CC.

joey' here's what i have . didn't you also need a flywheel cover to?

I'll take the clutch cover. I've got several left side covers, thanks for the thought though. If I try to start that saw again with out the decomp, I may start to run short on those left side covers.

Do you need any parts that I may help with? Or, how much for that clutch cover?

Joey

BTW, I tried PM but your box is full

Well, the PM 850 auto oil pump that I bought off of fleabay came in... I rolled the dice on the purchase since the angle of the picture did not show the top of the plastic pump, so there was no way to tell if it was the one that is sealed or rebuildable. Hit a home run on this one... it's got that little metal cover on the top. :blob2:

It was much cheaper than that one non rebuildable oil pump kit that some clown wants 50 bucks for. All said and done, somewhere around 15 bucks.

So... later tonight, the 850 should be all back together and ready to cut again.

Also made a grinding wheel guard for that hoss of an angle grinder that I fixed a while back. 8" wheel, should be handy for the bumper build on the Ranger. (deer are not gentle on vehicles that happen to hit them, and it'll be fun to scare the #### out of a ******* in a Prius that stupidly decides to cut me off...)

Also fixed the Ranger. It was a nasty blob of greasy #### on the end of the crankshaft position sensor. So, I now have a new coil pack and a new crank sensor, and the old ones for spares...

So... today went fairly well. Hope everyone else had a decent (or good, or great) day.

Hey guys I just got a power mac 6 top handle off ebay and the starter cord housing was jb'd up. Does anybody have one of these laying around. I really want to get this saw fixed and take it climbing at work. Maybe get some retro pics.

Got it installed, put the 850 back together, filled up the bar oil tank and the fuel tank...

Fired up in a few pulls.

But... she blows out a lot of white smoke at idle and even more at full throttle. Burning bar oil... otherwise, oils the bar properly and runs well.

I run the same mix in the trimmer and the 250, and neither blow out anywhere near this much smoke.

I also noticed that when I turned it on its side (as if you're about to make a felling cut) it seems to speed up. Think I need a new crank seal. Possibly both of them.

Well that sucks. You have some work cut out for you there. Might not be a crank seal. Wherever the oil leak is into the case, could leak air when you turn it on it's side.

Could well be the mounting gasket for the auto oil pump. If it's leaking around the large impulse port (which leads straight to the crankcase) then it will suck oil from the tank and into the engine. You're not the first guy that's happened to. If this (the smoking, and the changing RPM when tilted) didn't happen before your oil pump change, then for sure I'd look at the oil pump gasket. If it was chainging RPM's when tilted before this, then I'd be more apt to look at the crank seals...........as well as that gasket. Check the gasket first...

10-10 Seller Backed Out.

Well...... The guy selling the 10-10 Auto for $25.00 on our local C-List backed out.
I called him back and asked if he still had the saw. He does. He stated that
he put some mix in the tank and the thing fired up and ran like a top.
Well, I guess that is a good thing. Untill he desided to keep it.:msp_sad:

He has a Poulan Pro 295 that he will sell for $25.00. He does not know if it will run or not???

A PP 295 is NOT a 10-10. However, I may buy it and just learn a bit of chainsaw repair on it.
Lots of parts out there for a PP 295.

I wonder if Joey33 will allow a PP in his shop:msp_rolleyes:

The PP295 is a good saw. I'd pay $25 for one in a heartbeat. I've had a few CL sellers back out like that. A few times it's been because of YAHOOS calling the seller (from far away) and telling him his saw is worth big bux.:bang:

Just keep that poulan far away from the grouchy macs.

Come by sometime. I got alot of 10-10 parts that could be assembled into a saw or three and some compete 10-10 saws ready to go.

I think it burnt bar oil before the 'old' pump plugged up... just not anywhere near as bad. I noticed the same smell of burning oil. My 250 doesn't have that smell in the exhaust.

The gasket is definitely used... I remember Ron said he used a little RTV to help it seal, and it worked. I tried the same, and it smokes.

Is it easy to get the gasket/oil pump misaligned on the mounting boss? I have no idea how to tell whether it's properly lined up or not.

Ambull, it does kind of suck... in any case, I'm very happy to hear 82cc's of yellow muscle bark to life after sitting for so long. I could probably go cut with it, but would rather not, just to be on the safe side.

... must you taunt me like this? I've been thinking about how nice it'd be to run a 10-10 rather than a 610. As much as I like them damn near impossible to kill cinder blocks...

Parts run tomorrow... gonna find what I need for the 790. Crank seals, gasket material, 1/2" lower transfer welch plugs, bar nuts, and stuff like that. Small handful of odds and ends are all that is keeping the saw in pieces right now. I've got everything painted and ready to go.

Get/make a new gasket. don't use RTV. If you're using a sealer, use Threebond 1194. Use a THIN coat. Burning bar oil would have nothing to deal with crank seals. An air leak and changing RPM's with tilt could be the crank seals...........but could be that oil pump gasket too.

Taunt you? Is that an INVITATION?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...

Go check out the pix in the 'unofficial Mac 10-10' thread .... :hmm3grin2orange:
