I'll get some more pics of it later when it's done. I still got the starter and fan shroud to assemble and install and the clutch cover. I put on the unfinished starter to test it this evening.

It's too bad the saw is looking good and that handle is beat up pretty bad

before i pulled that saw down it pulled threw hard bronc should be pleased with it.

he wanted new rings, so i put them in. i think it was a good call. the ring gap on the old rings was about .080 and the new rings were .040. thanks again Fraser for the parts.

Up late?

It's 3:30 in the afternoon here in Tokyo...but my brain and body don't know when or where they are right now. In another couple of hours I take off for Ho Chi Minh City and should be thoroughly shattered by the time I get there.

I didn't take any photo's before I left, but I have a PM850 torn down at home right now with the most amazing broken piston. The cylinder didn't look too bad but I ran out of time before I had a chance to measure it. Hopefully the cylinder is not worn too badly and I can get by with a new piston and rings for this one.

54Stude may be disappointed if I end up keeping the tank as I had originally thought this one was going to be junk; maybe someone out there can come to our rescue with another tank for his project?

MAC Musings

It is hot out today so I spent most of the day gathering, inventorying and boxing my spare MAC parts. Almost all are now in 5 packed plastic totes. Amazing how much room I gained. Now I have to make a trip to throw out all the old boxes. I’m a little struck by my exposure to AS and the CAD it fuels. I just joined AS to fix one old 82cc MAC that I bought because of sticker shock when I went shopping to chose between a new 460 and a new 660. I look at all of the parts I now have, particularly the 125 parts, and think I am nuts as I could have bought both new saws and let the dealer carry the inventory for my investment. Then I look at all of the saws I have since gathered and remind myself that neither new saw would have been half as much fun. Thanks guys for all your help and encouragement. Ron

funny how that happens .:msp_unsure:

I just put that .404 chain and 20" bar on the sp81 yesterday and I got a call today to remove 6 trees from last weeks storm. Man was it hot down here. The sp81 worked great as you would expect. I brought a mini Mac for the limbing and it quit half way through.
