yup , my 2100cd in 84 was almost 700 with a 36. my first new work saw. that hurt back then.

I paid right at $450 (including tax) for my PM700 with a 20" bar in January 1981. I could have had a V-8, I mean a PM800. MAC dealer/regional distributor talked me out of it. The PM1000 had no appeal to me given its non-MAC heritage. Ron

Bp-1

OK guys, a little update on my BP-1 project.

Above is the pic of the BP-1 as I received it.

This is the starter handle I received from chainsawwhisperer. It came along with a bunch of other partswhich I'll try to post as there ready to go.
I did spend three days cleaning, painting and reworking it, befor the photos. This handle is a mock up. There aren't any points, condenser, point cam, cam driveshaft, or starter drum assembly inside. Parts I'm still looking for. Hint Hint

Notice the point cover. This was fabricated by chainsawwhisperer. I think its a great item and it looks like it belongs there.

Chainsawwhisperer has been a great help and I consider him a friend. I have also had help from other AS members who will be thanked as I go along.

Remember those were real bucks, a PM850 would run you $950 now.

If they still made them 850's, I'd buy one of those at full retail of 950 over a similar cc furrin' saw any day.

Yes, I have been looking at furrin' saws... one happens to be the last NOS 70cc class of its kind. And as far as I know, I am one of a very few that know exactly where it's at...

But I gotta put a decent tank on my PM 700 first. I think I may like that one more than the furrin' saw.

At least you got the PM700. My Dad bought a PM320 around the same time (1980 IIRC). I still have it. Was the first saw I ran as a lad. The safety nazis would #### a brick if they saw me running that little Mac at age 8.:D

The first chainsaw I saw ran was an old 1-40series/1-50series/200/250/whatever front tank Mac. Dad borrowed an 'old McCulloch' from a friend at work to cut up an apple tree in the back yard. I still remember watching him mix up the gas for it in a glass jar. Think I was 4-5 at the time (so that'd be around 1977 or so). Dad got the PM320 a few years later.

What are the odds of me piecing together a SP125? Tracking down all the parts, rotating assembly straight through to the handle wrap etc. It may not be economical but there is none of these saws in the vicinity I live in and they go for stupid money whole online. Thoughts?

I bought a running sp125C for $300 during the summer. Wait until the the summer when things aren't crazy stupid.

Didn't Johnny Cash sing a song about that?

She's a beaut Clark! I am looking forward to getting her running, NOT, into the pile of mini's it goes. It has been slow here, only been able to find little saws, I hope that it is not dried up.
