I seem to have spiked a Mcculloch fever lately. I picked up a few parts and parts saws. Trying to identify this carcass. No model tag in the carb box. Just these numbers stamped. 7-10 or a smaller cc saw??

I just added a new "priced right" kit for 10 series saw refresh.

Walbro Carb kit, fuel line and filter, gaskets, and seals for a combined price lower than you can get on ebay. Add an oem filter, and a duckbill valve and get free shipping in the USA.

Excited for my order to be coming in the mail soon, looks like tomorrow or Saturday!

Tinkered a few minutes last night with the 10-10S and gave the fuel tank another flush and fill to confirm it was junk clogging the filter causing it to die. Idles and revs better now (well, well enough, still going to give it a refresh) and doesn't rev up when I turn it on either side (think I unsubmerged the filter turning to one side as it tried to die out until I flipped it back up). Looks like I might have blown a little carbon out the exhaust too.

Made a few more observations:

One of the bar plates is loose and hanging out back by the muffler. How it got back there I have no clue - isn't the exhaust area of the big clutch cover sectioned off entirely? Looks that way in the IPL.

Also pulled the spark plug again to peep in at the piston and cylinder - cylinder looks nice and shiny from what little I see, and piston top has carbon on it. However, I noticed the plug is a gasket seat style. This is not correct at all is it, shouldn't it be taper seat? I've got a Champion DJ6J on order.

Thanks Vinny.

Noticed the spark plug wire is a bit damaged where it comes thru the cylinder shroud. The little grommet there was brittle and broke into pieces. IMG_7437.jpeg

Considering the lead is not stuck in the coil tower (that was why it wasn't running when I got it, was disconnected), I think I'm going to fab up a new wire and boot for it, maybe even in yellow silicon or HDPE for a nice look! Does anyone know a good source for a new grommet? Search for PN 110995 was unfruitful. OD comes out to 9mm and ID should be 7mm - maybe I'll just see if I can find a random one somewhere.

Thanks Vinny.

I'm lazy and just tape it up. Pile it just thick enough and get the tail to sit so the air shroud holds it there and good to go :)

Thanks Vinny.
