Fired it up

I just picked up one of these for $10.00 compression is 170psi haven't tried to start it yet far too cold outside and the wife objects to running saws indoors! More news and photos later. new clutch, bar and chain!!

Regards,

Lee:rock:

OK The wife is out to church so I tried to fire this up with fuel down the carb, no go.

I pulled the muffler and put some fuel into the cylinder and off she went, but too fast. Tried to adjust h & l but didn't seem to have any effect. Both h & l are out about 1 turn each.

After it started it would run with fuel down the carb but again too fast, idle adjust screw not touching the throttle lever . Might this be an air leak?

I will get around to photos. This one is a Mastercraft (Canadian Tire) version in a pleasant yellow with chain brake and anti-vibe. Came with a 16" B&C nearly new bar and a nearly new crap 91 safety chain with the big fins.

Regards,

Lee

It could be a vacuum leak. Usually it will race like crazy with the choke closed but maybe you compensated for that with extra fuel. I would rebuild the carb and make sure the base gaskets are good, the easy stuff first and then see what happens. Of course you can just change everything out at once too.

Ahh its a family. I really like these saws:D
