This is Rooshooter's picture--a stock saw sold in the locality in which it was used and used in a normal fashion. I would hate to see your idea of a bad air filter or an "issue."

Geesh, I must be special because I use the crap out of my 361 and it has never looked like that. Somebody did something wrong, and it wasnt Stihl.

It seems like there may be an issue of fit of filter to base, in addition to using the wrong type filter. Some of those chunks looked like they were larger than the mesh on hte filter, but it is a bit hard to tell. After getting teh right filter, I'd definitely keep it real tight and check it very closely to see if any more infiltration is going on. Also, make sure there are no brass cotter pins in the filter LOL (the whole reason I started this CAD thing, check thread on 026 air filter alert) Good luck solving this problem, I know it is frustrating..........

In addition to curing cancer, maybe the 361 is immune to dust!

I can help here. I will pay to have the saw shipped to me, so that it is no longer a problem.......:greenchainsaw:

Case in point, the original poster on this thread is running with the wrong filter. Simple fix: put on the right filter.

oil - fire etc

Excuse me but WHO do you think put that 'wrong filter' on my saw????

So WHO is causing a problem wich will become THEIRS in the long run.

And then you still have to explain me WHY they would want to have a problem at all.

So to me it is an issue that Stihl is selling the saws overhere with an inferiour filter.
I care zero if inferiour is the result of a design mistake or a production tolerance.

I care about the lifetime of my investment and posted so others maybe can also be aware of the risk.

PS: No reaction from Stihl so far.

I have no idea who put the filter on your saw. I did not say that anyone did, I said that you (and seemingly a few others) were running the 361 chainsaw with the wrong filter on it. But I guess all parties involved, including the seller, assembly people, quality assurance, original designers, and Stihl company management, etc., be sent by order of the world court to the Austwitz Death Camps and be sentenced to a public beheading as an example of what will happen if this should ever happen again in future! As a matter of fact, we will add this to the Republican platform at the US Republican and Democrat presidential conventions, and bring it to a head in the next session of congress, where a bill in will be put forth that all Stihl MS361 chainsaws WILL BE ASSEMBLED AND SOLD WITH THE PROPER AIR FILTER INSTALLED. Failing to do so will be a CAPITAL CRIME, punishable by death in a public execution. That law and policy in turn will be put forth for a vote in the United Nations, with appeals that all nations adhear to the requirement that ALL STIHL MS361 CHAINSAWS WILL HENCEFORTH BE ASSEMBLED AND HAVE THE PROPER FLEECE AIR FILTER INSTALLED. If any nations are not willing to adhear to this policy, they sould be immediately subject to invasion and/or nuclear anialation. Subsequent to that, the intergalactic tribunal will be notified of this UN policy, and any Stihl MS361 chainsaw sold within the solar system, including the adjacent area of the outer rim of the Milky Way galaxy, will have the proper air filter installed!!!! Or else.

Will that be good enough for you?

As an aside, is there any evidence of any discernable damage to your saw from sawdust getting in there? That does not seem to be a problem from what I have read here so far...

I'd be getting a new saw after something like that. To hell with discernible damage. There is no excuse for a filter performing that poorly. I swear, Stihl could paint a dried up piece of horse shat and stick a chain on it and call it frisky and you all would talk about how much you loved the smell.

Need to brush up on your 'warranty' ciphering a little.

The best you would get, if a bad A/F did cause damage,,,,is the damage repaired.

You don't get a new Chevy cause something broke or wore out while under warranty.

That was the Goblins ploy when he droped the 390 , to hear it from his Stihl Dealer.

Your horse shat way ahead of your buggy as there is no 'damage' as of late.

Old skool saws A/F's leaked all the time,,, huge chunks getting through, rarely a problem seen.

If it's a problim, fix it,,,,, but trust your not getting a new saw for it, NAPA Power or anywhere!

You'd be surprised what you can get if you know how to complain.

I guess you'd be happy with a steak a waiter brings out and you show him a big loogie sitting on top and he pulls out a rag and wipes it off? Right?

Stihl , or any quality product don't get where they got hanging luggies on things.

That dust in the air-box is more like fly-specks in the pepper on that stake,,,, for all we know, fly-specks are what give pepper it's flavor?

The truth? Do tell.

Space, you are obvioulsy so much more superior than the likes of myself... I just do not know what to say. So creative. Horse shyte on a stick? Oh, the smell of that is soooooooooo lovely, compared to the shyte I smell and step in down at the barn here all day long. Speep poop is just not the same thing. So inferior to your horse shyte that you offer up.

I would however, like to point out to your self-dilusional superior intellectual self that maybe you look at a few thousand posts of mine that are in many ways serious critiques of Stihl chainsaws on AS. You might just want to have a peek. But seeing as how you would rather revel in self promotion and post self-opinion polls and putting other people down for things that you have no business being involved in, or any understanding of, I would have to think that you have serious issues with acceptance in the world, and society as a whole. In other words, you seem to suffer from an inferiority complex.

Assuming everything you say is true, what's your point?

You claim repeatedly in this thread that air filters not filtering air is a non issue, and that we're making a big deal out of nothing. Yet, you don't like it when you're called on it. Now, how does what I am or how I post have anything to do with the topic?

You'd be surprised what you can get if you know how to complain.

That's true,,,but ask Goblin where it got him with his dropped MS-390 ,,, that Stihl cracks me up!

But for a try,,, try getting along with people, you never know when your really going to need something. And it feels good to be respected and have fun when your doing business.
