Nickblaze The tongs will work fine for soft woods but you get into hardwood you do have the chance of them slipping and as customer 8726 said if theres anything around to hit when that log falls it will ,and most of the time its the side of the truck that gets clobbered! You can get the same effect with a strap if you use a grab hook with the strap and a long rod with a right hand bend in it, you use the pole to unhook your strap so you dont have to climb up and down on the truck!
