Tim, sorry to be late replying but being on the otherside of the world makes it difficult to enter the conversation in a timely way. Some folks think I am rude but I guess I am just slow. And getting slower beause I do fit that 'geezer' profile quite accurately. The only time it ever concerns me is when I am out with my beautiful wife (who is not a geezeress yet) and meet people who clearly wonder what the hell she is doing with an git like me!
I am happy to give up any points I have but as I mentioned above - my saws are coming with me.:msp_biggrin:

Al.

That's a long dig from here Al. I kind of wish we were heading into summer.

I know it's early, but what do ya think? Worth $25 bucks?
ry%3D400

I'd be on that like a dog on a rat. I've never even seen a 306 or a 245 for sale near me

Without seeing it I wont say for sure but I dont think its a Windsor and is probably a Oregon. Like you said it is .058 and the 34 series chain is not what your wanting anyway.

I believe the other 60cc cyls have the top fins as well, 365, 3600.

You guys made me look. My 3450 Type 3 has top fins as well. Gilardoni piston and 60cc. Same as the 3750. OOps meant to say Gilardoni cylinder not piston.

Trust me, I was almost as surprised to see this one as I was to see the Dolmar 166 that I lucked in to :D

So is safe to say your the new owner ? If so make sure you correct that screw hold down on the carb cover. That is suppose to have a stud screwed into the top of the carb/reed adapter. That screw night become a source of a air leak.

Surface preparation on Mag parts.

I was curious what you guys use on the Mag parts when you come across small pitting or a small nick. What do you use to fill these in, or do you not fill them in all. I have a clutch cover and I am thinking of using some JB weld for some small pits in the mag.

As mark said, your on the right track. I have used polyester body filler before too. Any epoxy or 2 part filler should be fine, but its hard to beat jb weld. That stuff is amazing.

I once "glued" a fist size chunk of a Suzuki case back in after a catastrophic chain failure. Lasted till I sold it and I'd guess its still in there.

As with anything.... Prep work is the key.

I'm sure this has been covered a hundred times, but has anyone tried any closed port jugs for the pp335? I'm assuming since poulan built it, the answer is no, but I figured I'd ask. I have a nice sears best 3.3 parts saw that needs a jug so I thought... Eh, why not check.

The 325 is brother to the partner 500/5000 correct?

Thanks guys.

Whoever is on the Poulan 5400 that is advertised as a bad engine please let me know if it is bad, too rich for my blood taking a chance. Sitting at $177 right now.........with an hour to go.

The last GTG I went to I told rms61moparman that I needed more "cool" saws. Mike replied with "well that's easy, just start buying old poulans and problem solved". This is my start. The bad part is, the spark plug whole is messed up and the piston is lightly scored. I am pretty sure
I can handle the spark plug whole and get it running, but the thought of a helicoil makes me cringe. The guy had a push mower spark plug in it :dizzy:. He also had an echo 650, but it was missing too many parts for me to make an offer and looked like it had bad piston damage where someone had stuck something in the intake to stop it.
