Let me also say a Merry Christmas to all of you as well.
What bar mount did the OLD Poulans such as a 41 or 53 use? Did they share a bar mount with the old large frame Macs or Homelites perchance (or can either of those be made to work without too much trouble)?
I'm looking for a good useable bar for a guy that's helping me with some other parts. I have a stash of old bars, and am hoping that something in that stash will work. I don't have his saws to test them on unfortunately...
Merry Christmas my friends!

And a bump of my question for some Poulan content.
my best holiday wishes to all my friends here that I have not yet had the opprotunity to meet in person.
I hope you all have a great time with fammily and friends and hope to meet you all some day at a GTG.
I promise I will behave.....:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:
Thanks Aaron, same to you.
For those saws you mention, the mount is larger then the D176 mount and probably close to the Homelite C series mounts. I thought I had a picture of the mount of the 31" on my 71-A but dont see it. It is odd that it has square adjuster holes. If you know what the old Oregon universal mount is, that will give you a idea of what you need. It is of course a 3/8's slot in them.
If I get out to the shop later, I'll try to do a comparison photo.
Like the 'swiss cheeze' pattern? Fits lots of things.
I have several bars with Remington part numbers on them that use the smaller of the above. The 'Hoffco' is the larger one.
Just bought a Poulan Pro 5020AV w/20' bar...and have only cut about 6 hours and less than a tank of fuel.
Just wondering could I switch to this TruFuel mix or the 93 Ethanol free...without washing the deposits into engine or something which would cause me problems or void warranty?:confused2::msp_confused:
Just trying to get max usage from the saw.
Already have put on Stihl RSC chisel chain...and loving it and just got a 16' bar Oregon Power Match bar with some chisel chain also...I've yet to run this though...guess I will if and when this Stihl chain dulls down!
Thanks
Reggie
Thanks guys. That's what I was hoping. I have some 'extra' large frame Homelite bars. A couple have the Oregon 'Universal' mount. Mark if you get a chance could you compare one of your C-series bar tails to the bar pad on one of those big Poulans to see if the oiler slot is in the same place as what's on the Homelites? I'd sure appreciate it.
IIRC there were two different Oregon 'universal' mount patterns. Cliff posted up some scans of the Oregon literature, with charts showing which part numbers matched which saws. One set of #'s fit Homelites, as well as several other brands.............while the other set of numbers fit large frame McCullochs and another set of 'other' brands. Will try to find that post of Cliff's and see which group the Poulans fit in.
LOL, I can still start & use em, no problem. But unfortunately that day will come. I think I'm good for a while yet. Just have to take more frequent breaks, than I used to.
What part of Conn. are you located in? That name don't ring a bell with me. I lived in Ct. for 18 years. Danbury/Ridgefield area. Western part of the state.
Gregg,
I've been planning this project for awhile and finally got around to picking up one of those husqvarna helmets and modifying it. Tell me what you guys think.:msp_thumbsup:
Found Cliff's post after MUCH searching. I don't see the Poulans in the lists however....:msp_confused:

FWIW-These bars all have 3/8" stud slots, so they'd probably work on the old Poulans with a bit of tinkering...
Aaron,
For what it's worth, there is a 20" 3/8-050 70dl replaceable sprocket tip bar (Item 41097 - Laser Forestry Pro) on sale at Cutters Choice for $19.95. It is said to fit large Echo and Poulan saws, so it might work for you.

I am apparently suffering from some sort of memory loss that was brought on by either age or excessive use of alcohol (or both). I am now the "proud?" owner of a small indistinguishable (as of yet) yellow poulan. Anyone got any idea what this may be?
Well, turns out it was indeed a 295. Fires up and runs well enough. I figure this will be a good saw to play with and see how much better I can make it run. Thoughts?
