I didn't read the almost 33,000 messages (did read the 1st and last page).:buttkick:

But after seeing several members saws and running one not to long ago, I am looking for a Poulan 330 (or one of the equivalents). I have the Poulan bug and the itch needs scratched.

If anyone knows where about a nice one is, for a decent price? PM me please.
I do recall seeing one on the bay that was in great shape it seemed. Might have had a few things done to it. Not sure if it's ended yet or not though.

There was a nice all original low hour 330 and there still is a pretty nice rebuilt 330.

I figured if anyone could find a decent runner, it would be this bunch. I am patient though. I have waited this long, I can wait longer.

I've been searching eBay, but I don't know all of it denominations 330, 380, etc.

Is this all of them? Wasn't there a Craftsman equivalent?

I have a few of that series (330,380,3450,3750) they are my favorite of the Poulan's I have.

I appreciate any help you guys give me.

Thanks

Dex

Never saw a piston ring worn as bad as this one, half the thickness at exhaust port.

Old rings that was pulling 120psi compared to new rings. Saw still ran and started good but could tell was needing rings by pulling over.
Installed new rings with 30 seconds run in , idling and blips. Checked warm 140psi and will only get better when seated.

The PP330 and the Poulan 3450 1,2,and 4th generation are 54cc. The PP380, Poulan 3450 3rd generation, and Poulan 3750 are 60cc versions.

Get one. You won't regret it. I have 2. One is factory 54cc and the other with the 380 piston cylinder and clutch....I have 2 husqvarna 55's and they can't even come close to keeping up with even the 54 cc 330...amazing saws

That's a lot of ring wear right there.

While we're on the subject of piston rings, of the nine or ten 306/245s I've refreshed this past year, every one had some serious blow by staining on the piston sides.

Compared to the German saws pistons that are usually clean, I wonder if the down "through the top" keeper pin design allows that much more blow by through the wider ring end gaps and also since the two gaps are aligned? The rings are also butted flat against the single keeper pin, which makes the matter worse.

Another reason may be that the saw owners used to mix straight 30W engine oil at 16 to 1

Whats the smallest bar u guys would recommend a poulan 4000
Mine came with a 16in. bar but seemed too short. I put the 16in. on one of my 3400`s and bought a 20in. oregon for my 4000. That seems to be a nice balance for that size of a saw. Where I live there isn`t too much you can`t fell with a 20in.
