Nice quad of top handles! Joe I have to think but I'm not so sure there was ever any such thing as a 2.1 saw with a solid state ign.

I love them saws and in fact my buddy was over today and he seen the S25CVA that I had and all he could do was rave about all the wood that we had cut over the years with it.

He has been sold on them for 30 years.

Yeah, Im pretty sure your right Mark. I never saw a 2.1 with the SS. But what kinda threw me on mine is, it has the Walbro carb. All the older 2.1s Ive seen had the tilly carbs. Im gonna go on a limb and say that Poulan put walboros on first then the SS igns. Have you ever come across a tilly carbed SS ign saw? I dont think I have but I do find surprises on these saws.

Joe I do think your probably right about the tillys being gone before the SS igns came about. I do have a listing that shows the HU carb was used till serial # 25669860 and the Walbro after that.

Thing to remember is these saws have been around for more then a little while and unless you or someone you know bought it new then you have no way of knowing if something has been changed or not over the years.

Your 2.1 having a Walbro dont mean anything unless you can prove it left the factory that way.

Im thinkin this one did. It is super low hour. I bought it on ebay and the carb cover was so tight i needed a screwdriver to break the seal. I can take the Numbers down. But who knows?

just looked it up #358.356081. Looks like a walbro carb on the ipl. Another question. I thought only the 2.3 saws used a carb spacer! But I have one on this saw. Any thoughts Mark?

Oh yes I remember that all the time, now just remember when your talking about a rebadged saw it gets even worse.

They were sometimes made to specs for the vendor which were different then the Poulan originals.

On the little saw front, I got just a few minutes on the Aldens saw this afternoon. I put a new recoil spring in it and when turning it over it turns over pretty stiff.

The P/C look good through the exhaust so it looks like this one will be coming all the way down to check the crank and brgs. It has no spark either so that will have to be adressed also.

Muffler Mod!! WOW

I received a 3400 with a broken crank a few weeks ago. I found another crank for it so I decided to test my new wire welder out. It's not the prettiest weld by no means but did this ever wake this saw up.

I used a piece of 3/4 pipe and also enlarge the deflector holes on the inside of the muffler.

Well its official, my Dayton S25CVA destroyed my friends Stihl 191t this afternoon. Wasnt even that close.

He has a tree business and had a donation job to do at the legion today and asked me if I wanted the logs from it, so I said yeah and since its a dontation job to the legion I belong to also that I would help him with it.

Got a nice load of white Oak out of the deal. Took my PP475 also to get some time on it and he was surprised when it took his MS460 to school as well. LOL This 475 is really starting to run better with some more time on it.

Woodchuck John said it would and I believe him.

I know I should have taken the camera, but this was work not play this time.

question: what was the smallest CV they made? i looked up one of the part #'s (craftsman) and it showed a 3.0?
