The 401A / 141A is alive! I think she'll sit there and idle all day. I can't imagine what my neighbors are thinking. It's 7:15 in the evening, dark outside, good old Mark opens the garage, fires up a chainsaw and plays with it for 20 minutes while at the same time swearing for the first 10 minutes. (had to give the metering diaphragm cover a little tweek) One neighbor just gets home from the store and yells across the street and said " I see your playing with your toys again." Another neighbor opens the door and looks outside. I'm sure another pulled the drapes and did a quick look.

Someone a quite a while back was asking with to do with a bar to clean it up. This is only what I did - it's metal there are many ways to make it look nice.... Quick clean with muriatic acid ( I didn't think just sanding would get all the small bits of rust down in the metal grain) , rinsed it off real good , dried it up, sanded with 400 then 1200 ( with the grain), hit it with 3M polishing compound with a small pad on the drill, coated with oil and greased the roller real good.

Mark I'm sure my neighbors think the same thing since I picked up this wonderful hobby 6 months ago!
I always make sure to never test or run anything after 10 pm, but I'm usually outside in the light from the garage with a saw running at least twice a week!
I'm sure they're scratching their heads wondering if I'm crazy haha!

Been real busy around here. Between lots of snow, some wrenching and modding my snowblowers I've have a torn down 3800 craftsman on the bench for 3 weeks.
And my wife gave birth to our second. A healthy boy. My 2 year old daughter loves my tools, hammers are her favorite. My wife and I are city mouse/country mouse. So far Ava loves the outdoors, riding in my pickup and making fires in the stove. Should be fun to see how the little guy turns out

Congrats Joe!! Sounds like you are a very busy man..:) Sounds like another generation of old Poulan lovers is gonna be learning from an expert.

Gregg,

Thank you fellas. We got my nephew a toy saw for Christmas. He's just under 2 and it's his favorite toy. He sees my cousin runnin his saws all the time. Matter of fact Brian told me he was running his 3.7 last year and Tyler screamed till Tara (his mom) took him out to watch his dad cut wood

When grandson Brody was 2 1/2 ish, he had a logging operation going in our back yard. Truck master Express wagon (grandma's), three lengths of 4" walnut and the Ertl pull string tophandle 2000. Now Toby (2 +) has taken over the business.

Brody now six has gotten in to two wheelers. Did a face plant Sunday off his scooter.

IMG_0173.JPG Very seldom see anything but the 295 and smaller Poulans on craigslist around here. I picked up this saw yesterday. I am not sure what model it is. As best I can tell the bore is 46mm and looks like it has a chrome piston. It will get a good cleaning and a new 20" bar this weekend if all goes well. Paid 100 dollars. I am sure I could have got it for less but the guy I got it from was retired and doing mower repair out of his garage. From the looks of his property he needed the 20 0r 30 bucks I could have saved more than me. He also took my card and said he would call me when he got saws before he put them on craigslst.

Nice. Either a 330 or 380. 54 or 60 cc check on handle footpad. No chrome piston there. Chrome bore bare piston. Either way awesome saws
Good on you paying up a bit, you got a good deal, but helping a guy out who may need it is good carma. I've had a lot of repeat calls from guys like that. Heading to a place like that tomm actually
