View attachment 403072 Very seldom see anything but the 295 and smaller Poulans on craigslist around here. I picked up this saw yesterday. I am not sure what model it is. As best I can tell the bore is 46mm and looks like it has a chrome piston. It will get a good cleaning and a new 20" bar this weekend if all goes well. Paid 100 dollars. I am sure I could have got it for less but the guy I got it from was retired and doing mower repair out of his garage. From the looks of his property he needed the 20 0r 30 bucks I could have saved more than me. He also took my card and said he would call me when he got saws before he put them on craigslst.

Nice score. 46mm means your the proud owner of a Poulan Pro 330. Like Joe said, its not a chrome plated piston but they do look shiney.

Yep, Joe & Mark nailed it, as usual. ;) PP330 I noticed the bucking spike on the saw in your picture, looks like the "longer one", which was usually seen on the 330. The 380 has a shorter one I believe.

Gregg,

A little late now but what is up with the Poulan 655 Walbro carb. Cleaned it tonight and put new fuel lines getting ready for the spring Iowa GTG if it is still on. Is this carb governed in some way? I have never seen one with the outside jet and the deal with the rubber tit in it?

This is the first time I have taken a look at this saw since getting it. I amazed at how clean it is. I think it has had very little use. Only thing I can find wrong they had the bucking spikes upside down from new

Shane, I'm not a expert on those carbs, but I know that at least some of them were governed and some had a accelerator pump on them as well. I know the accelerator pump on mine has been disabled.

The brass plug with a slot it on the right side is the governor.

Too bad Arrowhead ain't around much anymore, he is the expert on these. You may want to try over in the Pioneer thread, Jerry is sharp on these also.

I don't think this saw even saw that. On the clutch cover writing in faded black marker is 84DL indicating it most likely has had nothing more than a 25" bar on it. They guy that owned it was in his 80s and I wonder if he was the original owner. Supposedly he owned hardware store and maybe this was his baby. A friend picked it up for me off a craigslist deal.

I like those too Gregg:) Here's a pic of my 2 now that they both run. Not a pretty as yours though!!View attachment 403291

Yes, I have another one thats not so pretty..LOL It gets used for work. Have a 4200 that gets used quite a bit also. I usually keep a 24" bar on the 4200, and a 28" on the 5200. That nicer one has a 30" on it. I think that is what most of them came with. Although I suppose you could get whatever you wanted on them. Even a bow. :D

Gregg,

Right now I have a 24" on one and a 20" on the other. I'd like to get another 24" instead of the 20", but that is just what I have on hand right now. That's a cool pic Gregg.
