Just got ahold of a Skil 1621.

That brings me to five 3400 variants, and I'm probably done.

2 craftsman 3.4's (one is actually a 3.7)
2 mastercrafts
1 Skil 1621

Still have yet to lay eyes on an actual Poulan 3400 lol

Yes for sure, I might need to trade for one or get it from eBay or something. I'm starting to wonder if they were sold in Canada - or in Nova Scotia ..

http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/bnc/tls/4890506931.html wonderin whatzit? model # cut off starter decal, where # would be on other side, says chain brake equipped... went and looked at it. bs'n about use, but still decent [dirty] shape... not wantin to deal on price. tia...

Looks like an early 3400 with brake for the Canadian market. Looks decent in the pic. I suppose it is worth $100, but is more than I would pay for a saw that you would have to go over. Unless you really wanted one. I know I over paid for one of my 5200's, but I wanted it! LOL

Gregg,

Gregg,

thanks, would've been my guess, 3700 woulda been next. tank smelled like gas, but was milky beige color. condensation maybe? don't want that bad. 4000 like that, id think about. I, too, paid "too much" for my 4200, but wanted it bad. first saw I ever ran...

You guys got me wanting a Poulan 4000 to add to my collection now, want that power a Mac PM605 don't have compared to it.

Sent from my Prism II from T-Mobile's slow edge network :-(

I can't speak for the Mac PM605, don't know that I ever ran one. But, I would be lost without a 4000 Poulan..
I'm just so used to it, tackles 80+% of what I cut. Most guys now days will prefer a light weight, high rpm, plastic fantastic, that sounds like a bumble bee on steroids. I don't have to tote a saw 2 miles up a mountain to cut wood. So weight of a saw never really bothered me. They have auto & manual oiling, plenty of power to run 20" or 24" bars.
Super reliable, easy to work on, and I always thought they were some of the best looking saws made. ;)

Gregg,

I really want a 4000 as my next saw. Might even sell a saw I currently have to get some funds for one. Or trade somebody here that might have an extra one:)

Tore my new to me PP380 apart and found a long crack in the flywheel side case half. Thinking of using JB Weld to fix but wonder what other cases might fit. I split case to access the crack and hopefully fix it unless someone has a better idea.

330, 336 or 365 will work but the last two have the impulse barb in the case which will have to be plugged off which is no big deal.

Sorry to hear about your luck but I had my doubts about that guy.
