I know each saw is different and 1 turn out on the H and L screws is a good place to start.
But for you guys that actually have and run a 5200, where are your H and L's set and your idle screw set once your idle screw touches the throttle so that the saw runs and cuts like it should?
I know it's a loaded question but I just wanted to get some real world examples.

No each saw is not that much different. That said if a 5200 is in good condition, nothing wrong with it, both screws will be very close to exactly one turn out.

Thanks Mark and about 1 1/2 turns on the idle screw?

Thats not important for a turn count on the idle speed screw. What ever it takes to set the idle speed. Now I wasn't saying your mixture screws will be one turn out on the money either, but it will be close to one turn out. Seems alot of them like the H screw at about 1 1/8- 1 1/4 out but no more then that.

If your carb still has a operating governor, you must set the H screw in the wood.

I agree with statement 100% Bob. The 3400/3700/4000 series of saws are very easy to work on. The only tricky thing on them might be the piston pin is pressed in, as opposed to using a cir-clip used on a lot of saws. Not a problem with the proper tool, or you can make one. It is very easy to damage something, bend the connecting rod etc. if just trying to drive them out.

Bob, I will check next time I go out to the shop, extreme cold and crappy here now.. :cold: You can have my old 380 case if you want it. I think you said yours was cracked on flywheel side. Mine was opposite side. Maybe you can use a case half from each, since you already split yours.

Gregg,
Gregg, thanks for the offer. Mark put me on to a 365 case which I purchased. As it happened the seller saw my post and is sending me a green case he says will fit. Again, thanks for your gracious offer.

Bob, I went out and checked on it. Its in two pieces, and looks good, little dirty. LOL Its not going anywhere, so if ya still need it sometime, you know where it is. :)

Gregg,

Got my daughter's boyfriend to buy a Poulan, it's a PP 4018 but its a start. He's used to running Stihl and Huskys on his job so its a start. Money is tight right now with a new house. I'll talk him into a real Poulan later on. :)

Sent from my Prism II from T-Mobile's slow edge network :-(

Right now, my indoor/outdoor weather gizmo says 8 degrees. Forecast- snow. Saturday we had more snow, don't ask me how much, I don't have a clue. It was snowing sideways at 40 mph. Ended up with a 4ft. drift in front of the garage door, naturally. Finally went out and removed that this morning. The old Ford 7700 with the blade on it started a little slow. Heck, it was only -3, I don't see the problem. :cold:

Gregg,

Gregg let me go take my plow off for ya. Every time I have done that, that night or next day we get snow.

I was grilling Sat in that crap that came through. Boy those steaks, bay scallops and mushrooms were tasty.

Kevin, I wish you and Mark would keep your dam plows on!!! LOL Mine is on the tractor, so it stays on all winter. :D I don't mind having to go out and move snow once in a while. But when it comes every couple days, accompanied by -0 temps & wind, it gets old real quick.

That meal does sound tasty! :sweet: Last we did anything on the grill was a week ago Saturday. Did marinated venison steaks & chops. Its just not pleasant grilling when windy & cold & snow...LOL

Gregg,
