The 415 is ready to go, rebuilt carburetor, installed new fuel and impulse lines. Hope to start it this week.

Does it have the early 415 air filter set up like on the 475?

The switch grounds the coil in the off position. Disconnect the switch wire at the coil and check for spark. If you get spark, either the wire or the switch is grounding the coil. If you don't, check the points. They often get contaminated with crud and oil.
Not to insult you, but did you try a different plug? Also check the connection between the plug wire and the coil.

I've got a decent copy of the IPL for the 361 if you need one.

Thanks I will check that before I check the points. Yes I did try another plug first, that's why I figured it had to be the coil or the switch. I will post my findings later, I hope to work on it tonight.

Piece of cake, remove clutch, drum, flywheel and points cover. Clean with sandpaper re gap to .017 if I remember correctly. It says it on cover.

just my $.02. [cad] here... paper & emery do work, but esp to a guy that's never done it, would say to pull a clean bus. card or such thru the points [closed] after, to get any grit left behind. also, keep dirty fingers off em.

points files are cheap.

Good advice, thank you!

DSCF2790.JPG If anyone has one for sale, I'm looking for a carb / AF cover for a Micro that doesn't have AV on the rear handle. PN is 530024965. I thought the CVA one would fit but it doesn't.

The donor saw would have the rear handle attach to the case at the rear like this 180.

i personally like points and have never had a problem with them, i have never had a set fail, just needed to clean and re gap and she started right up every time.

That is so true. You can play with timing some as well. They look darn good when your looking at an NLA module.

Alternate part number and it doesn't look like it has a hole for a mixing screw grommet? http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Poulan-2000-Woodsman-Chainsaw-Carb-Cover-Kit-p-n-530071304-530023775/111848273183?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=20131230161411&meid=15aacfb3dd1e4fa0ab891a3a54705527&pid=100012&rk=9&rkt=10&sd=261763278412
Edit: If I read correctly only the 190 had the grommet?

That would be the one. I'm going to see if I can find one in better condition. Thanks for looking that up Cory.

I saw one in an IPL with a grommet but can't remember which one. I made some gaskets for it today to fix a leak and am waiting on crank seals. I'm not sure if the carb is acting as it should. It fires up and idles and rev's up but occasionally dies at full throttle. It does have a small vacuum leak so I'm hoping the seals will correct that.
The non-AV saws are not common up here. I don't think I've come across one. I used to see the CVA saws frequently for $20 but they seem to be asking $80 now which is way too much IMO. Maybe it's the season but the prices are still as high as they were in the Fall.
I think it's worth putting some money into as it was a free saw.

These are great little saws for doing some quick work around the house or for the neighbours.
