What was your source for rings?Was anxious to see how new rings would do on my new to me 4000. Haven't run it yet just did a compression test. Little disappointed at 122- 125. May squirt a little 2 stroke in the cylinder to see if it rises much. Could be simply a worn out cylinder though it should run.

Yep I would say that is a little low for a 4000. Delete the base gasket and see if the rings seat.
Cylinder looked fine.Give it some run time, see what it has afterwards, I was pretty sure those rings were OEM and the listing said so. What did the cylinder look like?

I usually don't hone, but others do. I generally use some red scotch rite to clean cylinder.On this subject . I have a low buck build with good replacement cyl and good used piston / rings from a another saw . Light hone ?
