4200 parts

Boy, parts for the 4200 or 5200 are hard to find. You can get a gasket kit with crank seals on Ebay. Saw one today. Other parts well, keep looking or possiblt find a parts saw. 530032034 is the part# for the crank bearings. Maybe you can pull one and take it to your local seal and bearing dealer to match it up. Normally they are a production item used in other applications.

Bob,

It has been frustrating looking for parts for these saws which is compounded by being in Australia. Mark was kind enough to give me the detailed dimensions and specifications on the bearings which I sourced at a bearing and chain place here. The gasket perhaps will be an item that I will have to 'faithfully reproduce' which is not a problem. I was just putting my feelers out to see the availability of some parts though this forum instead of ebay. I was after a bucking spike for my NOS 4200 I picked up but the gentleman concerned on Ebay, the only spike on there will not ship to Australia. So I have to be creative to get one here. The age of the saws is very apparent to me with regard to availability of parts I am not ignorant or naive in that respect, I was just buoyed by the supportive atmosphere here in this thread.

Poulan fram hand 2775

I have on older Poulan farmhand 2775 (green) that runs great. I let a friend use it and he dropped a tree on it.

I do not think it hurt the engine, but it broke the handles on it. It also leaks out the oil from the chain oiler.

I was wondering if anyone knows of someone with a saw such as this that no longer works and is willing to sell for parts?

Are there any other models that are compatable with this as far as parts go? Ihave been watching ebay for a used one for parts, but have not had any luck as of yet.

Wildthing Envy

This came up in a different thread but it belongs here along with some :newbie: questions.

The IPL of the Poulan 2750 and 2900 lists the same crankcase/cylinder assembly as your 2775. It's possible that the vent tube for the oil tank got knocked down into the bar oil and it is causing the leak. Probably a lot of Poulan and Craftsman handles will fit your saw.

I think i may have some used handles here for the guy and some other stuff for the 2775

Looks and sounds good! Good runner for a 71A.

thomas are you big red on youtube ?

Picked up these three saws yesterday, two are badged as Dayton's.

Daytonsaws001.jpg

The 245 is the best of the bunch, just needs a new starter rope.

Think I will pull the bar off the 306 and put it on a much better one that I have.

Guido,

That Dayton 245 is very interesting to me. Could you post up the model # thats on it?

You see I bet I don't have that model listed in any of my Poulan private label charts.

That saw is not a version that was ever produced by Poulan for its lime green branded saws.

You can see that it has a manual decomp like a Dayton 2Z463A and a later Poulan 245SA.

It does not have a Power sharp system on it though like the two versions I noted before. The Poulan 245 was to the best of my knowlage never offered with a decomp without the power sharp.

Another member sent me some pictures of a Dayton 306A style saw that was the same way, being that it also had a decomp but no power sharp.

Shows to me more and more that Poulan did indeed make some special verisons for its private labe customers and that all private label saws were not exact copies of there lime green counterparts.

Yea, that's me in the video. Yes, all I did was remove the coil from the 2000 and placed it on the laminates of the 71A. The saw turns over 10,000 rpm out of the cut and makes a good bit more power. I think some carb work needs to be done though, as I believe it causes the engine to run rich every once in a while. The electronic ignition really shows the saws potential. Shame Poulan did not have it on the saw back in the day.

Thats nice info to know, and might have other far reaching possibilitys.

Did you block the governor off in that carb?

I have not yet, but it seems to be screwed up though and only works every so often. I will take the carb off and block it in a couple of days and re-tune it. I used the same ignition on my sp105 as well. They are cheap and easy to find.

Yep thats why I asked. Sounded like that could be the culprit!

I don't run my 71A much, just for fun now and then so I just put a new governor on it since I had one here for it.

I have been cutting cords of firewood with my saw for the past two or three years. With the bow you do not get much vibration from the saw.
