Picked up this 3400, needs a fuel line, looks kinda funny with the little 16" bar, lol

Very clean. Wish there were dealers in my area 70's-mid 90's. You just don't see these around here.

Looks like a low hour saw. That bannana nosed bar could be the original or at least the first replacement. We actually sold quite a few new ones with 16" bars on them when they first came out.

Good thing we know how to do fuel lines!

This is about as unscientific as I could get. Every saw has a different chain. Couple different lengths also. That being said, the 2150 was at the disadvantage with chain. Has a 3/8 lopro safety half skip crap the come with out of the box store. Only saw to out cut it was the 475 (to be expected). Turning 15,100 warmed up and barely a four stroke. Frozen semi dry birch.

475 20" ch Very impressive, wish I had the 372 for comparison today.

Wow, that was pretty good, Mitch. I bet it would be real close with some VXL on the 2150. They all cut well, and I've noticed on my test log this cold has had an effect, never really cut frozen stuff.

I for one sure hope it happens. I think I might drag my camper over this time, got lots of room to fall down into at the end of the night if you know what I mean.:cheers::clap:

LOL, Was thinking about that just yesterday. We should be looking to have another Poulan GTG this spring. Was first week of May last year. I guess somewhere in there would be good again this year. Maybe May 7-8th. Open to suggestions. I'm gettin sick of this cold, snowy weather.

Gregg,

Poulan newbie

I've got an old Poulan 44 bow saw with the original bar & chain. It's my entry into collecting... can anyone tell me anything about it? I'm especially curious about it's value in case I want to trade it with another collector.

2375 is the one most popular for that. The newer ones are a strato design. Arrowhead has that class topped I'm afraid.LOL He has one fast WildThing, like no other I have seen.
Gregg,

What does strato mean?

Mitch they all looked very good to me! That 2150 is mean running.

The 2900 looks good as well. Have you massaged it yet?

The 3450 sounds good, and but maybe its just me but is the chain good on it? Didn't look it was throwing good chips.

The 475 sounds good as useall. Did you check it with a tach yet?

How do you think it will do against the 372? I would like to see that test between the two of them with bigger bars.

Gregg,

Greg, I like that picture! It was a great time.

If your going to be good enough to host us ole Poulan guys (and gals) again, then as the host, I think the date should be set to suite you!

I'll rearange any time that I have to in order to attend. Just please try to make it on a dry day. :hmm3grin2orange:

2900 is stock with one exception, the muffler cage is opened up. Digging through my saw pile, I found another 2900 I didn't even know I had LOL. Stole the oiler off that one.

I had not run the 3450 since the GTG and did not check the chain. I do know it is a vanguard and not a fast cutter reguardless.

475 is around 13,500 and after making three :12 second pulls, I would find it hard to believe my 372 would be faster if at all. It handles the 32" just as well......the seat of my pants tells me.

Wow, nice saws everyone. That 3400 with the banana bar sure brought back some memories. Mine had a 16" bar too. Boy this thread moves fast - I am going to have to read back.
I have just finished cutting up a bunch or red gum with the 375 and I am hot! First because it is 35 degrees C outside (that is mid 90's F) and second because that little saw really cuts. I have lots of saws in the 60cc class and this Poulan is right with them. I tried it against an 034 Super, a 361, a husky 61 and 365, a Shinny 577, an Echo 610 CVL and even my old Partner S65 and only the 365 beat it convincingly. I initially thought the Poulan was a chain store saw but it is the real deal. I gave it a muff mod and tweaked the tuning to make it a little fatter and that is all.
Goodness, it looks like I am going to look a little harder for some Poulans.
BTW, I tried a little 50 cc saw against this lot and it was not embarrassed - see if you can see it.

Sorry for the off topic saws but I figure this little dime store 375 can hold its head up in pro company. BTW, if Poulan can make saws like this why has it spoiled its reputation by specialising in throw-away saws for the chain stores?

YES, Dry is my preference too!! :D We will just say, for now anyway, that the weekend of May 7-8 will be the date. (subject to change) LOL

Still have some logs back there. Will probably cut a few new ones also.
Really enjoyed having you ole Poulan folks here for the first one.
Will have to check on booking the musical entertainment! but I hink that won't be a problem.;)

Be good to see all of you again, and some that couldn't make the last one.
Have to twist Super3's arm again also. lol We will allow Sthils to cut next to the Green.

Ah, I was on the right track, that vanguard chain explains that. I thought that the 3450 should be moving on a little better then what it was doing. My PP330 seems to do a little better then that. I know it out cut my friends Husky 55 last weekend.

The 475 sounded pretty good. I know I had it set at 14,500 before and it still was 4 stroking a little. I think I had it turned down to 13,900-14,000 before I sent it out. You said it was a little warmer today and that changes things a little bit.

All I know is that it when it warms up, I'm going to try my 475 out against my 575XP. We will see what happens there. The 575 is a strong runner, I had it out with my buddys MS460 and it had it covered.

The Poulan Pro 475 might have them all covered though. LOL

Well to that question, all I can say is that you will have to ask the fine folks at Electrolux about that.

I think and this is only mostly my opinon that I wll make brief, is that when the big elux takeover started, Elux wanted to come to the US and Poulan had a good brand name to start with.

They also had fairly new factories, a top notch R&D department and a good dealer network at that time.

We also know that the homeowner saws are the bread and butter, so thats where the Poulan name came to be asset.

They also had some good saw designs like the Poulan 2800 3000 etc.

I think they also wanted Husqvarna to be there premier line, so there was no room for Poulan at the top.

Poulan still makes them money and thats the bottom line. Look how many Husqvarna saws were made in the Poulan factory. As far as I know the Partner brand still being sold in europe is still all rebadged Poulan saws, did you know that?

There is probably alot that I don't know as well.

Even the Poulan consumer saws being built to day are still way ahead of there competition as far as I'm concerned. They get a bad rap around here, but there not being put in the proper prespective if you ask me.

I'm not surprised the 375 impressed you. I have said many times that my 3700 is not really outclassed much by newer 60cc saws.
