Is this a Poulan supplied spark plug? I think it came out of one of the S25CVAs.

Poulan Thirty-O-Six

I finished up my 2nd of the 3 Poulan 306's I recently came across. This one is a early model 306. Points ign. Was called Thirty-O-Six, hence the .30-06 ammo next to it.:hmm3grin2orange: I couldn't resist. It started up fine. Will take these to the woods when weather gets better and tune them then. This one didn't have a bar, so I put a 17" Sandvik bar I had on it. There was a nice old original 17" Poulan hard tip on ebay recently, that would have been just dandy on here. Needless to say, I got outbid on that..LOL

Gregg,

Oh, that 30/06 is beautiful. Great restoration. Hey, I have a PP 375 and a .375 H&H - I am going to take a picture of that!

Gregg,

Nice .30-06 Poulan Gregg. I'm sure you'll have a Garand time with it in the woods!:D

Gregg,

That thing is sweet. Leave that bar on there. It reminds me of a fat belly race bar and looks trick on there. Starting to make me miss my 245 and dayton :(

I almost wish that I had a Stihl MS 170 to go with my 17 cal. HMR...
a pretty good match....:msp_biggrin:

I'd like to have an MS460 to go with the .460 Weatherby cartridges my friend gave me. Of course I'd like to have his rifle too! That was a hoot to shoot (hey that rhymes).:D

I don't have an 044 to put wth my .44mag cartridges. Hmmm....

There's a couple of fellows here that have McCulloch 450's. Wonder if any of 'em have .450 Marlin leverguns...

I did a search on google images to see if I could find some good pictures of a Poulan 8500 so I could make new decals for mine. I wanted to see what the right side decals looked like before they got all scratched up from refueling.........

I was very suprised to see the photo of my 4200 pop up at the top of the page, fourth one from the left......:msp_love:
It links to a tractor site that I visit, and have been promoting the virtues of the old Poulan professional saws. My post to that site included a picture of my 8500, 4200, 3700, 3400 and a couple more that I can't remember at the moment. What a hoot! But I still don't know what the right side clutch cover decal is supposed to look like.

If you have a good picture of one please post it here or send it to me.:givebeer:

It pleased me very much that I might be contributing to the respect and honor of the Poulan name. On the other hand it saddenes me to think that when we use up these great saws, they are gone forever. When I retire I am going to see if I can manufacture replacement cylinders and pistons at a reasonable cost. I won't be doing it for the money, I have enough of that as long as somebody doesn't start WWIII in the next 9 months.

I know what you mean about the Google search!
I searched for Poulan one night and just for the heck of it I clicked on the "Images" doohickey and was amazed that the first picture on there was one of my junky old "Ugly Bastard" 3400!!!
I had to smile but then I kinda felt bad that it was the first thing people were seeing when there are so many pristine saws out there.

3400 3700 4000 spikes

I will be making some custom spikes for these saws very soon. They will look similar to the 4200's, but use the existing mounting pattern. I even have an idea for double dog set up.

I have found some of mine on there too. I even saw 2 of my saws for sale on ebay and i never listed them:msp_glare:

306SA getting closer

Got to spend a little time on the 306SA. Got it all back together but still have to refinish the bar and make up the chain for it.

I orderd some stuff from Baileys a couple weeks ago, specifically the .325 X 9 rim sproket for it. That was the only thing that was not in the box. They said they would send another but as of yet no dice. I was surpised to find one locally though.

Here it is, I'll be starting it up when I get the bar done for it. The paint is a week old and the decals have been clear coated for a week as well.

Something else I want to add is I think I found out why its hard to sometimes get a good gasket seal on the carb/reed adapter on this series of saws.

I went to put the carb in and when I tightend it up it felt like the carb rocked when drawing it down.

I pulled the carb and adapter off and laid a file on the flat surface and gave it a couple strokes and found that both front and back were not flat.

I carefully flattend both sides down and I'll bet it seals good now.

Just somthing I'm going to start checking!
